A tree swallow is a small to medium sized bird with a pure white throat, chest and belly and beautiful iridescent dark turquoise feathers. Here it is perched on a branch close to its nest box.

The common milkweed is starting to bloom and that means that orange and black monarch butterflies are flocking to the pale pink flowers. Here is one butterfly on a clump of milkweed flowers, drinking nectar with its wings outspread. Monarchs must lay their eggs on milkweed, as that is the only food for the caterpillars.

A medium-sized dragonfly with a yellow abdomen, dark blotches on both wings and brown eyes stopped for a few seconds and I snapped a picture. I think it's a female widow skimmer dragonfly.

Two turtle face each other. They are standing out in the pond on water lily pads. You can see one one white water lily flower a bit beyond them.
