Launch of a cosmic ray experiment on July 21, 1969 from the #soccer field of the #River Plate stadium, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The stadium stands served as a virtual #windbreak to allow the balloon to be safely inflated & launched. Several balloon missions were performed there in 1969/70 by the Centro Nacional de Radiación Cósmica (CNRC) and the institution that succeeded it the Instituto de #Astronomia y #Fisica del Espacio (IAFE)

2/ In the end, I found 14/15 saplings, all spruce but that one tamarack. After the first few larger ones 20-30cm +/- a foot, I was tired of trying to dig the shovel into rocks and gravel (limited success anyway) and the smaller ones were mostly pulled out, with not much difference in root volume (all poor) -- I've removed many in the past though, with a good survival rate. These were all potted up, we'll see how they are next year. anyone need #bonsai or #windbreak starters?

My strategy:
Keep the moisture as long as possible in the top 10..15cm by

- soil protection with #mulch
- partly #shading with trees
- dry-out protection by a #windbreak like a #hedge or #deadhedge

To avert using plastic tubes, my next project are #ollas for the annual vegetables.

CAD (Computer Aided Design) is a really useful tool for #GardenDesign, because you can figure out #tree spacing and quickly calculate lengths for #windbreak hedges & areas for #GroundCover & #NativePlant #WildFlowers

A plan also communicates ideas with partners, and documents plants to help with maintenance
