Starting to learn shading. ✍️

Tried to really separate out the form light, form shadow, terminator, cast shadow, core shadow, reflected light, half tones, center light, highlight, ambient light, ambient occlusion, and penumbra.

Sacrificed a bit of realism but this was a studying exercise. So not too worried there.

All part of the learning journey. πŸ€“

Pencil drawing. A study of light and shadow. The subject is a simple sphere with the light source from above, slightly to the right, and slightly in front. Emphasis was put on separating out the various modeling factors (form light, terminator, form shadow, core shadow, reflected light, cast shadow, ambient occlusion, penumbra, half tones, center light, highlight, and ambient light).
