@YesBut i love how the b is also filled in
@oli fun fact: haiku has these functions to remain compatible with beos, even though no program would seriously use these functions
it's hardcoded to return 1 and 0.63739 respectively
@cadeybunny that does not compute
@Sobtanian is that what you call a spawn pool?

@dma @karlemilnikka @Mer__edith i strongly doubt it, since the swedish army has opposed it because they use signal themselves. the issue really boils down to that none of the higher-ups in swedish politics has the slightest understanding of how encryption works and how fundamental it is for our daily lives (think tls: you wouldn't connect to your bank without it!).

It is once again time to give thanks to Brian Fox, the Black American programmer that has given us BASH and echo
! Thank you for your INCREDIBLE contributions to open source software, Unix, and Linux. It literally would not be the same without you. BASH is still absolutely foundational to all computing today. Happy Black History Month to an absolute icon!

so, uh, does anyone remember the in-game chat bridge to matrix i made about half a year ago? well, fun fact: i just got back from the homeserver owner that apparently the chat had accumulated over a third of a million messages during this half year, which is an insanely high number of messages.
so, to relieve some of the pressure of data storage, i agreed to adding a retention period to the room so messages older than 1 month would be automatically deleted, and after a day of processing after applying the policy, it went down to 65000 messages in a month.
so, yeah, a word of advice if you're an idiot like me: be nice to your homeserver/instance owners and respect their budgets, especially if you don't/can't donate to them.
@Sobtanian the sound of clicking a link in ie automatically played in my brain when they high-fived
@oli depends on the amount of traffic you're getting, but on a smaller scale, yes. i've used a beaglebone black for that in the past, and it coped just fine despite being less powerful than the pi 4.
@innkeeper my take is the glass is twice as large as it need to be. unfortunately, reality don't agree with that.
@Sobtanian just looking at the black boxes is enough proof, since they're all square which would only be possible if the line is horizontal.
but even with that fact, my brain refuses to acknowledge that they are horizontal.
