Just be insult proof. Do you really think I think of it for a second when someone calls me “pointy-eared, green-blooded hobgoblin?” Firstly it’s sort of true, so I pay it no mind. If it isn’t true then I pay it no mind.
Remember that the only logical thing revealed from an insult is that the person insulting is just a terrible person and wish them well, or that they get better, or that they get the help that they need. 🖖

Not to blow your mind or anything, but...

"walking to the dentist" is actually a gerund phrase.

A gerund phrase begins with a word that ends in "ing", which is a gerund. A gerund is a verbal... another type of word made from a verb.

A gerund ending in "ing" is a NOUN because it is an activity (walking, swimming, eating, etc.).

The complete "gerund phrase", in this case "walking to the dentist", acts as a modifier/descriptor that tells the reader more about the word "was".
