My spouse and I live on the west coast amongst the Redwoods, Eucalyptus, and Pacific Coast Fog. I grew up on Vancouver Island, with a short, 30 year stopover in Portland.

Hiking (often to waterfalls!), photography, music, and map making, keep me connected and curious with the environment around me, while using open source software/hardware keeps me "mostly" sane!

'Minimalistisch'
Yeah well I think I'll have to throw one of my Collection items into today's topic! For .. obvious reasons πŸ˜‰

I took the when I deceded from a mountain and was almost back to the car park when I noticed that I went into thick fog that erased not only everything in front but also all sounds around me.

A serene winter scene captured in black and white, showcasing a fence surrounded by freshly fallen snow. The image features a peaceful landscape with a foggy background, creating a sense of tranquility and calmness. The dominant colors are white, with a subtle accent color of dark gray. The overall mood of the picture is tranquil and serene, with a hint of mystery due to the foggy atmosphere. This monochromatic sketch-like image evokes a feeling of solitude and introspection, perfect for those seeking a moment of quiet contemplation in the midst of winter.

A map of Canada's recent election, where each riding is colored according to which party wonA Dorling Cartogram of the same election results. In this case each riding has been converted into a similarly-sized circle and packed into their approximate location on the map, although there is a huge amount of distortion due to Canada's high variation in population density. Basically, you see one blob at the left which is BC and Alberta (mainly blobs around their major population centers) and one bigger blob on the right which is the main Canadian population center along the Windsor to Quebec City corridor.

#tree #oak #Kent #biketooter Just past this big old sprawling oak tree while out on my bike.

A narrow country lane passes beneath the sprawling, low-hanging branches of a large, old oak tree. The tree’s thick limbs arch over the road, creating a green tunnel of leaves. Dense greenery and hedges line both sides of the lane, and a small signpost is visible on the right side of the road. The scene is lush and tranquil, with dappled sunlight filtering through the foliage.

πŸ‘‹ Say hello to floccus v5.5.x, which is being rolled out at the moment. It comes with a new fail-safe mechanism to prevent duplication of excessive amounts of bookmarks, which has happened in the past in rare cases. Floccus logs are now stored in IndexedDB so we have more space for them and can store logs from more than one sync run. And there's also a bunch of performance and correctness fixes in the bag for you to enjoy, including a long awaited fix for tab sync! πŸ“š Happy Bookmarking 🌟

Part of the cast iron latticework Victorian bridge which carries Benalder Street in Glasgow across the River Kelvin, and above the former Partick Central Railway Station, whose platforms still lie beneath it (just of of shot to the right of this photo). I'll feature the remains of the station itself in my next post.

Finally had time to watch Pewdiepie's "I installed Linux" video.

Don't know what I was expecting... but *wasn't* expecting a great list of reasons why, in 2025, you should stop using Windows and install Linuxβ€”he even mentions how to use systemd-analyze!
