#introduction

Hi, I'm a biochemist enthusiastic about #enzymes, #biocatalysis and #ProteinEngineering & #ProteinEvolution.

I did my PhD with Florian Hollfelder at the #UniversityofCambridge working on #DirectedEvolution of enzymes using droplet #microfluidics. Currently, I am doing a postdoc at #ETHZurich, studying which properties determine a protein’s innovability towards new function.

Looking forward to learning about cool preprints/papers and finding a lively scientific community here!

Hi all! #introduction

We are a virtual seminar series about all aspects of intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). Scientific fields include: #biophysics, #biochemistry, #cellbiology, #bioinformatics, #softmatterphysics etc.

Our new program is just out with seminars on the first Thursday of each week (CET 7PM, EST 1PM) .

IDPseminars are run by @Proteinmagnus and @alexholehouse

Time for #introduction.
My name is Emmanuel « Manu » Margeat.
I develop and use single molecule fluorescence , including #smFRET, #FCS, and #SPT.
My research focuses on elucidating the structural dynamics and the interactions of #membrane #proteins, in vitro and in living cells.
I am strongly involved in research management, serving as deputy director of the #CBS, the Centre de Biologie Structurale in Montpellier , or as Council member for the french and the american Biophysical Society #BPS.

It is often said that virtual scientific meetings lack the networking components of in-person conference.

At IDPseminars, we beg to differ. 😎

I’m still not sure how this 🐘 works, but I guess the best is to start with an #introduction
Here I will be posting about stuff from our lab at the CECAD. We want to understand #aging and #proteostasis to prevent multiple age-related diseases such as #ALS, #Alzheimer, #Parkinson and #huntington

Hello! I am a post-doctoral researcher from the Sattler Lab at the TU Munich. I specifically work on understanding the molecular mechanisms of HSP90 and its co-chaperones on the activation of disease-relevant clients. To do so, we primary use NMR spectroscopy, integrated with other approaches such as SAXS, X-ray and Cryo-EM. I am particularly interested in protein-protein interactions, conformation changes and the study of large proteins by NMR. #introduction #NMRchat #chaperone

Hello! I’m a recently appointed lecturer in Biomolecular NMR at the UCL School of Pharmacy. My group develops NMR methods and software for the analysis of molecular interactions and dynamics, and we apply these to study protein folding, misfolding and quality control, and ligand binding. Always open to collaborations. Creator of NMR TITAN. Advocate for #julialang. Outside of the lab, greyhound owner, amateur pianist, horn player, opera lover, cyclist and swimmer. #introduction #NMRchat #lgbt

Hello! I am an MRC CDA fellow in the Pharmacology department at the University of Cambridge. Me and my research group are fascinated by the molecular mechanisms that underlie protein self-assembly. We work on strategies to prevent amyloid formation and we are using engineered biomolecular condensates to gain insights into how Nature utilises phase separation to facilitate protein degradation. #neurodegeneration #BiomolecularCondensates #proteindegradation #introduction #Proteindesign
