#Interrail day 6/7b: to #Aberdeen I chose reservation-free trains. The #RailPlanner app signed the following #LNER connection as not reservation-free, but when I wanted to make the reservation at #RailEurope they said it’s free (and thus wouldn’t sell). LNER‘s chatbot also stated that a reservation is not mandatory so I just entered the #train and found the best places you can get 😊
#Interrail day 6/7: from #Nottingham with #Northern to #Sheffield, with #CrossCountry to #Edinburgh, with #ScotRail to #Aberdeen, and then with #LNER to #London #KingsCross.
Especially the leg in #Scotland is absolutely breathtaking, and the first class service of LNER is comparable to business class flights (I didn’t even have a reservation) 😳
I think this will be my #1 tour for a long time ♥️
#Interrail day 5/7: barely started in #NeustadtWstr I noticed a mail from #SNCF that my #ICE from #Strasbourg to #Paris was canceled so I would miss my #eurostar to #London
But as I’m still testdriving I accepted the challenge. SNCF in Strasbourg changed my reservation to a #TGV two hours later, and in Paris I was simply shifted to the next leaving Eurostar, as easy as that 😳 (double-check class!)
From London I took a reservation-free #EMR to #Nottingham and then my #brompton to the hotel 😊
@nik @sebwilken @Liberapay Wenn es wirklich über 7000 Empfänger gibt würde ich auf Kleinstbeträge zielen. Ich unterstütze meine Instanzen, Podcaster etc. normalerweise mit einem Euro pro Monat. Der tut nicht weh, auch wenn man mehreren Projekten was zukommen lässt. Wenn das genug machen kommt trotzdem einiges zusammen.
Bahner sind häufig Nerds, da würde ich auch Liberapay empfehlen. Kommerzielle Dienste meide ich eher. IBAN geht zur Not auch.

Mit neuen Fernverkehrszügen will die Bahn ihre Flotte verjüngen. Beim ICE L gab es zuletzt Lieferschwierigkeiten. Die Bahn hofft auf eine Inbetriebnahme noch in diesem Jahr.

Es kann vorkommen, dass der Linux-Kernel der verwendeten Distribution nicht korrekt funktioniert. Auf Arch-Linux lässt sich mit wenig Aufwand ein eigener Kernel mit beliebigen Anpassungen erstellen.

Bei ÖBB und ČD sind Reservierungen auch für innerdeutsche Fernzüge übrigens für ~3€ pro Person und Zug erhältlich. Für Verbindungen, in denen nur ein IC/ICE genutzt wird, ist das deutlich günstiger als bei der DB.

Gibt es hier Schulen, Eltern, Schüler, die Quizlet einsetzen? Today a new direct #Eurocity service 155-156 between #Zürich 🇨🇭 and #Pisa 🇮🇹 was introduced running daily in the summer ☀️ period. Until now the train pair was extended only on weekends to #SestriLevante. However departure from Zürich HB now is at 06:33 instead of 10:33.
Also new: after the end of the summer period in September the train pair will continue to run from/to Sestri Levante daily instead of only on weekends.
#Interrail day 4/7: unfortunately I have to leave #Rimini, but thanks to #Nödbroms I could sleep longer as the #train station is only 7 minutes away by #bike 😃
I took the slower #frecciarossa to #Milano (3h), as everyone takes the fast one leaving some minutes earlier. In #Chiasso the #ECE150 was 30 minutes delayed and pretty cramped, but I managed to get the perfect place for my #brompton though they didn’t show which place is reserved before departure.
First class then got cramped in #Lugano
As it is #Nödbroms‘ first visit in #Italy I really was gobsmacked by the #bike ways around #Rimini and towards #Cattolica. Only problem: nobody cares it’s meant for bikes. Pedestrians and cars like to use them too, I even encountered a tour coach 🫣
After a long day in the saddle there’s no better place to chill-out than the #PonteDiTiberio, good food and lots of music 😊
