I Hal Sawyer - 2y ago (edited) : My favorite relic English still used everywhere is the word "the" used in phrases like: "the more | look at this, the stranger it seems', or "the bigger they come, the harder they fall". This "the" is not the article of any noun, itis a different word, a conjunction descended from the old English "pa", pronounced "tha" which means either "when" or "then". Back in early Middle English the structure "if - then" had not taken over and if you wanted to express an if - then relationship you said "pa whatever, pa whatever", meaning "when such-and- such, then such-and-such". "pa" sounds almost the same as "the" and the spelling of the two converged, but the meaning remained totally different. "the more, the merrier" literally means "when more, then merrier" or "if more, then merrier'; same as centuries ago.

Recently YouTube's links got 2 times longer. They added Source Identifier in them for the sole purpose of collecting data. You can delete it, and link will still work just fine.

and it shows a youtube link, with everything before "?" labeled "actual link to the video" and everything after labeled "source identifier" unless there's "t=69" at the end in which case that's the timecode

Why you should delete that? 1. You post that link on social media, Google crowler finds it, checks the data base and now it knows this account on other social media belongs to you. 2. I click on your link and now Google knows our accounts are connected.

I'll tell you this much - I never (in 1992) thought I'd see a day when hundreds of people in my community would gather at 9am on a Wednesday to defend the rights of trans kids to transition safely.

Never could have imagined it.

In 1994, when I attempted to get the gender marker changed on my passport, I was quite literally laughed out of the office by the staff, who were telling each other what a joke I was in the broad hearing of everyone in the room.

That was in this town.

In 1993, when I was jumped by a group of fascists and beaten senseless.

That was in this town.

In 1992, when I'd transitioned, I was kicked out of my housing by my landlord, no notice, just get your stuff and get out. I was merely fortunate to find an apartment nearby that I could afford within a couple of days.

That was in this town.

So I am deeply moved by the number of people who showed up yesterday, not all of them queer themselves, to help defend trans kids.

People spreading the message of trans joy and trans life and trans love.

It makes me again #ProudToBeTrans.
