Sometimes you see a girl and you think. "I wish that were me." And sometimes you ARE that girl. (if you are chaunacops)

From this video: youtube.com/watch?v=1tMQhyATzQ

You should watch the video. It's even better.

A red very round angler fish of the deep. She is textured with big black eyes, and unreasonably cute.

fun thing about having Butt Plants is that sometimes they just split up into more butts. this was three butts last year, now it's six butts. maybe next year it'll be twelve butts. we're on the precipice of exponential butt growth 📈

do you think birds got the idea from fungi or fungi got the idea from birds?

Celebrating #FungiFriday with officially the teeniest mushroom I've photographed; I'm still pretty new to real macro photography and it's proven to be quite the challenge, particularly on film, but wow is it satisfying when the effort pays off!

#mushtodon #sporespondence #mushrooms #fungi #Mosstodon #film #filmphotography #macrophotography

color film photo of a pair of tiny, light brown mushrooms growing from a dense carpet of short, green moss; they have narrow stipes each leading to a round cap that curves slightly inward around the edge; looking closely at the cap, one can see that it's covered in tiny white granules and seems to be ever so slightly pleated, creating the appearance of dark stripes running towards the edge where the gills are presumably attached inside; in the foreground, the blurred outlines of several even smaller specimens are visible

[Source: biodiversitylibrary.org/page/4]

Illustration of Amphiuma tridactyla, a long, slender aquatic amphibian with an eel-like body. It has a smooth, dark upper body gradually lightening toward the tail, which curls upwards. Small, reduced limbs with three visible digits are present near the front and middle of the body. The head is broad and rounded without prominent eyes or mouth details. The style is a detailed scientific drawing from 1842, emphasizing the animal's elongated form and minimal limbs.

So many choices! Too many? A small hermit crab checks out the stock of new outfits; a dozen assorted shells, mostly native varieties, with one imported zebra nerite. And there's that big whelk shell; too big now, but give him time ...
#VancouverIsland #HermitCrabs #IntertidalInvertebrates #Invertebrates #MarineLife #DailyHermit

On the right, a green and brown hermit crab stands on top of a large, whitish whelk shell. He wears a brown and white mud snail shell, clean and new-looking. Below him, on the floor, lie a mix of shells, all but one unoccupied. There are more of the mudsnail shells, long and narrow, some brown and white, a couple dark brown. There's an oval, white shell, and an exotic; an orange shell striped with black (this one purchased from a pet store).
Background; water, and more shells, blurred by the water currents.

@sundogplanets I had a 20 minute bike ride this morning in absolutely pouring rain, and on the way back in light rain, so it is hard not to complain about rain. But I know we need it and it will pay off with glorious bugs/moss/fungus/lichen.
