@ibrahim Packet should be a part of GSConnect/KDEConnect. But yeah, it would be great to have those extensions really integrated into Gnome.
For #Gnome users, what apps or extensions should be part of Gnome?
My answer: Network Displays, GSConnect, and Packet.
And by that I mean that Gnome should offer them as basic functions with options in Gnome settings and quick settings and within other core apps like Nautilus.
Linux Mint has announced a new app to support fingerprint authentication. It includes 'smarter' PAM integration to preempt authentication issues, and fall back to password login if needed.

@afreytes ok, but let me explain.... 👀😅😅

Google IO started today, and most of the keynote focused on AI. The end of the presentation this morning though gave us more details on Android XR. I'm a HUGE fan of smart glasses, but do we really need Android INSIDE our glasses? Let's chat...

@Legit_Spaghetti Sorry, I missed the last paragraph of your post. But Fluid would still be a good suggestion, and do check out xr4work as they do post about standalone productivity apps on #VR.
@Legit_Spaghetti Well, there's Immersed, better on the Quest, but they have a version for Pico. Fluid is also cool on the Quest, I don't think they support Pico though. There are some good apps for productivity, but mostly for Meta.
Check out #XR4Work on FB and Youtube if you use any of those platforms.

I really need folks to stop acting like disability is full of people “scamming” the system.
The average person has no idea how hard it is to qualify. How dehumanizing the process can be. How much you have to sacrifice & give up.
It’s designed to make you quit.

A $130M company faked trials for 10 years instead of running the free Open Source version of the software.
They created a new personal email every 30 days to request a trial — instead of just running git pull, as documented.

#NASA #Voyager1 Revives Backup Thrusters Before Command Pause
Fixing the thrusters required creativity and risk, but the team wants to have them available as a backup to a set of active thrusters whose fuel tubes are experiencing a buildup of residue that could cause them to stop working as early as this fall.
The mission team wanted to fix the thrusters, deemed unusable decades ago, before the radio antenna that sends commands to the probe went offline for upgrades.

Last week, OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman announced his ambitious plan for the World project, formerly known as Worldcoin.
The company presented its 6 new locations in the United States, where people can go to get their biometric data collected from a creepy iris scanner called The Orb.
But this isn't just a cryptocurrency grift anymore, this is much more dystopian.
In this article, I describe the risk of using such service, the unethical practices the World project has been employing to gather numbers, and how this is a slippery slope towards the normalization of mass surveillance we should all worry about.
Say no to the Orb!

It is kinda wild that I was able to turn my phone into a wifi hotspot mid-flight so my #VR headset could connect to the internet so I could watch a movie in VR while flying back to L.A. today. Like, this is wizardry. If I tried to explain this to someone 100 years ago they'd have me committed.
