Managed to get Slackware 4.0 running in 86Box with the same specs as my Slackware 8.1 install from yesterday.

For this one, pfetch just segfaulted, so I had to write up my own janky little fetch script. If anyone's interested, I can clean it up and share it even though it's outdone by basically every other fetch script on Earth. All you'd have to do is swap in your own logo.

I was successfully able to get pfetch to recognize such an old version of Slackware by just writing my own /etc/os-release file with the necessary information.

Da ist mir heute mal ein richtig schöner Diskettensatz von Excel 4.0 für Windows 3.x über den Weg gelaufen. Diese Version von Excel hatte ich bisher nur als Teil von Office 3.0, jedoch noch nie als Stand-Alone Fassung.

Ich konnte die Datenträger gerade schon kurz testen und erfolgreich in 86Box installieren. Die fertigen Images lade ich dann im Laufe der kommenden Tage auch wieder ins Internet Archive. 😉

@SynAck then I have only one other suggestion: building #86box from source to get the latest version and have it run on #Debian stable.

Having some fun with #86box on #MocaccinoOS #Linux with some old #Twilight CD's. I think this was a thing in the 90's in the #Netherlands.

I noticed that VFIO support was added to #86Box a few weeks ago, although it looks like it's only preliminary at this point. If that gets fleshed out it will be a HUGE step towards making 86Box a "grown-up" VM host, rather than just a game emulator.

The latest build of 86Box emulator is capable of reproducing the actual sound of a floppy disk drive. While this is a function still in beta, it adds a completely new dimension of depth to the retro experience. I like it!

Here's a quick video sample... booting MS-DOS 6.22 and installing STUNTS from 3.5inch floppy disks.
