Disappointed the #AROS Pi port hasn't made any progress. Wish I had the mental energy to dive into projects like this as I know it'd be very much welcomed in both #Pi and #Amiga communities if it was up and running. I know there's only one dev working on it though alas and he's overloaded with other projects. Glad he's on it!

Krzysztof 'deadwood' Śmiechowicz has released the first version of AROS for x86-64, labelled "stable". The basic system is available in two versions: as a bootable ISO file or in a 'hosted' edition that runs under Linux. Virtual machines (VMware, Virtualbox or QEMU) are recommended as a test environment for this first release:

Could the Amiga have become a true multiuser OS, akin to Unix, or was it too tied to specific hardware and lack of memory protection for that to be possible?
Could it have taken a path similar to MacOS classic and OSX? I never had an Amiga, so forgive any obvious ignorance on my part.
PolarPaint is an experimental paint program written with Hollywood that requires a fast computer with RTG, at least a resolution of 1440x900x16 (program window is 1400x820), at least 40 MB free Fast RAM (64 MB or more recommended) and is available for AmigaOS 3, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, AROSx86 and WOS.
The "AROS One" distribution, based on the AROS binary interface ABI v0, is now available in version 2.8 for x86 computers.
This version integrates the last three years of AROS development.
Additional work has also been done to stabilise drivers for virtual environments (VirtualBox, VMware and QEMU), so that AROS can be tested in a virtualised environment before deciding to purchase dedicated hardware.
