Very interesting episode about a paper I had not seen - men with problem drinking who would take naltrexone to reduce drinking *only on days they felt the urge to binge* - and it worked!

We love the Episode 20 article about targeted naltrexone in sexual and gender minority men. It has changed our practices. Would it change yours? #alcoholusedisorder #naltrexone #bingedrinking #AMJC #addictionmedicine #MedEd

@sentimentaldom Thanks, my wife works in #AddictionMedicine as a PA doing primary care so she's well versed but I'm just a simple #Epidemiologist living in academia so I have no practical knowledge (will I can fix my own motorcycle most of the time, most of the time....). Anyway working in #PublicHealth though I feel like I SHOULD know this stuff and be able to help. So really, thanks for what you do and I'll happily sign up for a training!
Saw this on my residency training group chat. This is great! I think this is the first clinical training on #AddictionMedicine in the #Philippines 😊.
This podcast is a gift to all researchers interested in addiction: two experienced physicians discussing new papers & their impact on clinical practice 👏

Episode 15 reviews an article about buprenorphine vs methadone in pregnancy in @NEJM. #buprenorphine #methadone #AMJC #addictionmedicine #pregnancy https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2203318

Clawing pulling stretching
to fever pitch
in my head
in my neck
down my legs
In my back
I almost crack
Nothing is untouched
barbed by an infernal itch
That bitch. Oxy.
@alannawrites welcome to mastodon (that’s partly tongue-in-cheek as i’ve been here barely 3 months myself)! my interests are #worldlit 1880-1980, #AddictionMedicine, #harmreduction, and mental health in the #ClimateCrisis. my question is: do you think there’s a market for a #MarvelComics work featuring an un-superhero psychiatrist doing street medicine? Their super power is an elixir of empathy, sublingual buprenorphine and a third ingredient (secret)!
