@stubbers @Jplonie I switched from Premiere to #DaVinciResolve because I wanted to try using #Linux as my daily driver on my workstation. I still have to use Windows for #AffinitySuite because #GNUImp is garbage, but getting away from Adobe's toxic corporate attitude has definitely been a plus. I had a couple decades' experience with After Effects, so i missed it for a while, until I discovered how powerful (and hackable) Fusion could be.

I was excited because the new version of Affinity Publisher includes multi-page spreads. Would I finally be able to do a paperback cover layout at three pages (back cover, spine, front cover) and not have to re-align everything if the spine width changes?

Sadly, no. It looks like the pages have to be the same size. (Someone please tell me if I'm wrong about this!)

But they *did* add a bunch of machine learning features I don't care about! <eye roll>

What would #linux people say is a good dual boot distro for an artist who uses #AffinitySuite products, #blender is curious about other art apps, and wants to set up a little home server for (very basic) webdev, and serving files, books, and music and all that? Not an expert at all, but willing to read documentation. I'm vaguely familiar with Ubuntu and Mint (from long ago), but am open to whatever is new and good these days.

Bit the bullet and got the #Affinity suite. Mainly because that while I love the #FOSS tools I have been using since I cancelled my #adobe package, there is some functionality missing there that has made my work processes slower and more difficult.

Plus the black week price on the Affinty V2 universal Licence package was pretty damn good.

Any #Fedtips for someone who is a complete noob to Affinity, but who is pretty well versed in #Photoshop, #Krita, #Inkscape, #Illustrator etc?

One of the things I appreciate about #affinitydesigner since switching to the #affinitysuite from #adobe is how much more customizable the blending options are, even compared to #Photoshop

TIL that #AffinitySuite is available for free to nonprofit organizations with verified Canva for Nonprofit accounts. They are excellent non-subscription replacements for #Photoshop, #illustrator, and #InDesign

#AffinitySuite, cont'd: Decided to put some RAW pics from my vacation earlier this year through Photo - I thought it went rather well. Committed some minor boo-boos along the way but on the whole, VERY intuitive experience.

Affinity Designer has a new stroke width tool that can edit a vector stroke's widths at each node.

I've only wanted to have a vector art software that has a tool like this since... forever I guess.

I am a bit distressed to hear #AffinitySuite is joining #Canva. I was rooting for them as an #Adobe alternative all on their own. Now, they may certainly be able to grow with the resources Canva offers, but I don't see any way Affinity avoids pulling in all the creepy AI stuff from Canva.
