Agave Americana, or "Century Plant"... I think.

Agave titanota 'Red Cat Weasel'

I got this almost exactly two years ago and it's shaped up very nicely. The name comes from the fact that this variety turns dark reddish when stressed, but I keep this one indoors so I guess it never gets stressed.

Oooh, I can make myself some agave rope and turn it into rope, and make myself a rug! I just need to roast the agave leaves over a fire.... (or I suppose I could throw them in the BBQ)

Oooh! Found a use for the blue agave leaves off my (enormous) agave out back. Anyone want to pit roast a goat?!?

(or, I could dry the leaves and make myself agave leaf clothing... 🤔 )

LA Times: SoCal agave owners have been hacked. What are thieves doing with those filched leaves? (paywall)

“There’s this Western vision of agave fields where they’re only used for tequila,” Solis said. “Traditionally, the plants and their leaves have been used for many centuries for other purposes.”

Solis said the leaves are generally utilized in cooking, clothing and animal feed, the latter particularly for goats.

Solis said fibers are scrapped from large, mature leaves and then dried, cleaned and eventually converted into products such as ropes and belts. He suspects, however, that the leaves from the plants in the moderately wealthy suburb are being harvested for use in cooking barbacoa, a traditional Mexican dish of slow-cooked, chile-infused goat, beef or lamb, generally.

The barbacoa meat can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, though most commonly in tacos.

Often the meats are wrapped in agave leaves and cooked in underground ovens, though some pitmasters substitute banana leaves.

A joy of keeping a Perpetual Journal is seeing what was going on this same week in previous years. Here’s my PJ showing my art of nature observations from my Tucson AZ yard 1, 2 & 3 years ago this week: Desert Willow leaves (currently green); Desert Broom seeds & Agave (same as previous).

Indoor rack has reached its final form (probably)

I upgraded the middle shelf to 65W Brim Panel As. The top shelf is already 65W, and the bottom shelf has plants like haworthias that don’t like too much light, so it will stay on 45W.

All of the panels stronger than 65W that I’ve seen have the LED driver stuck to the top of the panel, so I wouldn’t be able to fit them in here like this.

Thus: final form achieved

Today I made a monkey fist knot, I find it in this book

Maybe knots and this book can help Gaza, me I use them all the time!

I didn't know coffee has this meaning in your country.

I hope you will have great coffeemakers again.
