The flower stalk emerges from an agave. It’s currently growing about 20cm (8 inches) per day. It stands next to a rock with the numbers 121 on it.

The flower spike on this agave has grow at least 10 feet in just 4 weeks. So if you can hear 'forced' rhubarb growing at a paltry 1inch a day, imagine sitting next to this monster.

This agave plant is about to blow! This is at a neighbor's house and that middle stalk just shot straight up out of nowhere.

We have one in our yard too. I understand that after this bloom is over, the plant itself dies, so I hope it's still quite a few years away from happening to us.
