#AlexHonnold is the only person known to have climbed the 3000 ft face of #ElCapitan in #Yosemite #FreeSolo (without ropes &/or safety gear).

This climb was recorded in the documentary Free Solo (2018). I have a copy of it on DVD. It can be viewed for free on a least one #AltStreaming channel & for a fee on PPV/subscription channels.

@edgeworth Just checked & #Hamnet is the only one of the remaining Best Picture #Oscar nominees that I have to watch in a theater.

All of the others are available on an #AltStreaming channel where I can watch them for free in the comfort of my own home w/o distraction. 😊

I already own copies of Sinners & F1 on DVD & I always try to buy a copy of the Best Picture winner each year too but that's sometimes been difficult, like for #Coma which is an #Apple movie.

At any rate, I currently have DVD copies of all of the Best Picture #Oscar winners going back to 1927/28 when #Wings won it.

So, back to the 2026 nominee list, I still need to see:

I found #WinWin on an #AltStreaming channel.

Just watched the start to get a feel for it. It looks promising & I plan to finish watching it.

But haven't been able to find #CanneryRow offered for free viewing anywhere yet but, based on the #Wiki summary of it, I don't think I'll like it, even though I am a fan #Steinbeck's writing & own copies of most of his books.

@Starcade Everything #Netflix acquires will probably go behind their paywall. ☹️

Fortunately, there are #AltStreaming sites where I can see pretty much whatever I like w/o being forced to subscribe to any of the media giants who would be happy to have a monopoly on all of their content.

I just need to learn how to download & burn #DVDs from these sites.

The software is out there but I'm just too lazy to do it yet but will when there is no other way to add the films that I want to my collection.

@nedraggett I didn't go to see it at my local #AMC & I'm not going to subscribe to pay to see it on #Disney either.

I'll watching for FREE on any #AltStreaming channel that has it BUT I am going to buy the #DVD if/when one is released because I want to have all 3 of the #Tron movies to make a set.

While I was at my local #AMC yesterday, I saw a trailer for #Greenland2 due to be released on Jan 9, 2026.

But I didn't recall ever hearing about or seeing #Greeland1 (2020), which is not surprising because it was NEVER released theatrically.

Never heard of the movie "Eden" before. Just read about it on #Wiki. It's a perverse but reportedly true story. Probably won't like it but it's an oddity for a Ron Howard movie which makes me curious enough to want to take a look at it on an #AltStreaming channel.

It's not your imagination, most of the recently released movies really do s*ck! 💩

The only recent & currently planned movies that I intend to see at the theater are:

I collect them on #DVD but I haven't liked most of the #AnnimatedFilms released in the past 5 yrs or so.

But, I haven't seen #Elio yet & I'll give it a try, if I can find it on an #AltStreaming channel.

As much as I like Keanu Reeves as an action hero (#Matrix & #JohnWick), I've never liked him in lighter fair.

He stars in #GoodFortune, which was a movie that I was definitely NOT interested in seeing at the theater but I took a look at it on an #AltStreaming channel & my decision to skip it at the theater was confirmed.

I could only watch 20 mins of it before reading the entire plot on #Wiki & skipping ahead to see how it ended.

I viewed it as a lesser grade version of #HeavenCanWait (1943 &/or 1978) & #ItsAWonderfulLife (1946).

I suggest you watch one of those instead, if you want to see movie about an angel saving souls which is what Good Fortune is supposedly about.

Another movie that I missed at the theater & am glad that I didn't pay good $ to see it there was #Him.

Just watched it on an #AltStreaming channel. It's a movie about what price glory in the #NFL & gets really weird. Lots of sex & gratuitous violence & in the end I'm still not sure if the "hero" achieved his goal or was put off of it entirely by the experience.

You didn't miss anything if you missed it. I'd give it a 2 out of 10. 👎

Just watched "most" of #TronAres on an #AltStreaming channel but couldn't finish it because it was so tedious.👎

Glad that I didn't go to see it at the theater.

I've got the original Tron (which seems lame now but was advanced in its time) & #TronLegacy on #DVD.

#TronLegacy was much better than Ares. Will buy Ares on DVD to complete the set but ONLY if I can get it for cheap because I'll probably never watch it again. 🤷‍♂️
