@edgeworth #Movies #Oscars

That's good. I just looked at the list. I just hope that #MartySupreme or #OneBattleAfterAnotger don't beat it out for Best Picture.

I make it a practice to try to watch every film nominated for best picture:

So far, I've only seen:

#Sinners (#AMC)
Marty Supreme (AMC)
One Battle After Another (#AltStreaming)
#Frankenstein (Local Theater)
#FI (AMC)

I already own copies of Sinners & F1 on DVD & I always try to buy a copy of the Best Picture winner each year too but that's sometimes been difficult, like for #Coma which is an #Apple movie.

At any rate, I currently have DVD copies of all of the Best Picture #Oscar winners going back to 1927/28 when #Wings won it.

So, back to the 2026 nominee list, I still need to see:

#Bugonia
#Hamnet
#SecretAgent
#SentimentalValue
#TrainDreams

Hament is still showing at local theaters. Not sure about the others but I'll try to find them either on screen or on an Alt Streaming channel.

I watched the and I was surprised when 'Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama' was won by Wagner Moura for . I never before heard of this actor from Brazil or his movie. Soon afterwards he was interviewed on and I admire the answers he gave there. It gave me more reasons to watch this film.

Note: The 9 movies that won &/or were nominated for awards that I've seen were:

#AvatarFireAndAsh
#F1
#Frankenstein
#MissionImpossibleFinalReckoning2
#MartySupreme
#SongSungBlue
#Sinners
#SmashingMachine
#WickedForGood

Going to try to watch the following 8 winners/nominees if I can find them on an #AltStreamingChannel:

#OneBattleAfterAnother (the big #GoldenGlobes winner)
#SenimentalValue (Best Supporting Actor & nominated in 6 other categories)
#KPopDemonHunters (Best Animated & Song)
#Elio (which was nominated for Best Animated)

#Hamnet (Best Movie & Actress Drama)
#SpringsteenDeliverMeFromNoWhere (Best Actor Drama nomination)
#SecretAgent (Best Foreign & Best Actor Drama)
#NoOtherChoice (Nominated for Best Comedy, Best Actor Comedy & Best Foreign}

So far I've only found the 1st 4 of them on an Alt Streaming Channel.🤷‍♂️

Me, listening to @somafm's "Secret Agent" radio: "wait, I know this song"

Turns out: Yeah. I've heard it twice in 2012.

This brain is so strange.

 I Became an International Spy

Hello, dear readers! It’s Tina here, and today I’m about to take you on an adventure that’s far more exciting than my usual tales of burnt toast and awkward encounters at the grocery store. Grab your popcorn, because things are about to get juicy.

It was a rainy Tuesday afternoon, the kind where you don’t want to leave your house unless absolutely necessary. I was lounging on my couch, wrapped in a blanket like a burrito, binge-watching a show about spies—because, of course, that’s what normal people do when they’re procrastinating on their to-do lists. Suddenly, my phone buzzed. It was a message from an unrecognized number. Now, normally I’d ignore such messages, but let’s be real: I was getting bored, and curiosity is my middle name. (Okay, it’s actually Marie, but “Curiosity” would be way cooler.)

The message read: “We need your skills. Meet us at the corner of 5th and Main. Wear something inconspicuous.” Well, if that doesn’t sound like the start of a spy movie, I don’t know what does. I immediately jumped up, threw on my most inconspicuous outfit—which, let’s be honest, is hard for me because I’m the kind of person who accidentally wears neon colors to a funeral—and set off on what would become the craziest night of my life.

As I approached the rendezvous point, my mind raced with possibilities. Was I about to be recruited into a secret international spy organization? Would I have to do cool things like parkour over rooftops or engage in thrilling car chases? Spoiler alert: I didn’t even get to ride in a cool car, but more on that later.

I arrived at the meeting spot and spotted a group of people dressed in black. Naturally, I felt like I had stumbled onto a scene from a Mission: Impossible movie. One of them, a tall figure with sunglasses (at night, mind you), stepped forward. “Are you Tina?” he asked. I nodded, feeling like I was about to be initiated into some elite club. “Welcome. We’ve been watching you.”

Now, I’ll admit, that phrase sent a little shiver down my spine. I mean, I know I’ve had my fair share of embarrassing moments, but I didn’t think my awkwardness was that noteworthy! Nevertheless, I was intrigued. They explained that they were part of an international spy group and that they needed someone with my unique skills—read: I can make a mean cup of coffee and tell bad jokes at the worst possible moments.

After a brief interview that involved some hilariously awkward questions like, “Can you run in high heels?” (Spoiler: I can’t), I was officially recruited. And just like that, I was no longer just Tina, the burrito-wrapped couch potato; I was now Tina, the international spy!

My first assignment was to gather intel on a suspicious looking café downtown that was rumored to be a front for a secret organization. Sounds exciting, right? Well, when I arrived, I found that the café was actually just a really popular spot for hipsters who love artisanal coffee and avocado toast. I spent an hour there, blending in by pretending to read a book while secretly scrolling through my phone. Not quite the thrilling spy work I had envisioned.

But then came the best part: I got to attend spy training! You know, the kind where you learn how to dodge lasers, pick locks, and—get this—how to blend in at fancy parties. Imagine me, Tina, awkwardly practicing my “sophisticated” walk while trying not to spill my drink. Spoiler: I spilled my drink. A lot.

Eventually, I was assigned to my first real mission: to infiltrate a gala hosted by the very organization we were investigating. Glamorous, right? I donned a sparkly dress that made me feel like a million bucks, and my partner, who was a real-life James Bond type (seriously, he could have been a model), gave me a few pointers on how to act suave. “Just remember, confidence is key,” he said, which is easier said than done when you’re trying to fit in among a crowd of people who look like they stepped out of a fashion magazine.

The night of the gala arrived, and I was a bundle of nerves mixed with excitement. I practiced my fake laugh in the mirror (you know the one, the “Oh, you’re so funny!” laugh), and off I went, pretending to be someone I wasn’t. Halfway through the event, I found myself cornered by a suspicious-looking gentleman who seemed to have taken a keen interest in my “sparkling” personality. He leaned in and whispered, “I know what you’re really here for.” My heart raced, and I thought, “Oh no, this is it! I’m going to blow my cover!”

But instead of panicking, I pulled from my deep well of terrible jokes (which, if I’m being honest, is a significant part of my personality). “Oh really? You know I’m just here for the free hors d’oeuvres, right?” I replied with a grin. To my surprise, he laughed! Maybe my awkwardness was my secret weapon after all.

As the night progressed, I ended up dancing the night away with my fellow spies, trying not to step on anyone’s toes. It was a wild mix of clinking glasses, laughter, and, of course, more spills. I even managed to sneak away to gather some intel without anyone noticing—though I’m pretty sure my bright red dress kind of gave me away.

In the end, we didn’t uncover anything too scandalous. Turns out, the organization was just a bunch of rich people enjoying their wealth, and I left the gala with a full belly and an even fuller heart. My partner and I ended the night with a promise of more adventures to come.

So, what did I learn from my brief stint as a spy? Well, for starters, I learned that I’m definitely not cut out for the high-stakes world of espionage. I prefer my excitement with a side of Netflix and snacks. But hey, at least I can say I’ve dabbled in the spy life, and I have some hilarious stories to tell.

Next time you’re binge-watching a spy thriller, just remember: if a mysterious message pops up on your phone, it might just lead you to the wildest night of your life—or at least a really awkward dance party.

Until next time, keep being fabulous, and remember, whether you’re saving the world or just trying to survive another day, a little humor goes a long way!

Love,

Tina 🌟
