If living on the East side of Scotland, especially Angus and Perthshire worth following the flooding coverage of the Courier.

It has either rained or snowed everyday this year for at least 1 hr in a 24 hr period according to my home records.

#MythologyMonday #Celtic: `#Angus is supposed to have made his home at Newgrange, near the Boyne - the underground temple which was formerly called Brugh na Boinne. The old stories say that three trees grew there which were always heavy with fruit, and whoever rested at Brugh na Boinne and ate of this fruit would be deathless.`

Some of the amazing Pictish and other early Christian era carved stones at the St Vigeans Museum of Carved Stones near Arbroath. The image shows the interior of the museum and is dominated by a large Pictish cross slab in the foreground. Other carved stones are se up in the background and to the right.

In Pearson's Magazine in 1907, J A Middleton also wrote about Glamis Castle, #Angus, which surely must have more #ghost traditions attached to it than any other house in #Scotland. All the charming (and cruelly uncredited) illustrations follow, plus one from Harmondsworth's Magazine. #PhantomsFriday

The 1.5m high Hunters Hill Stone, a Pictish symbol stone in woods to the east of Glamis in Angus. It probably still stands where it was first erected and is carved with a cross on one side and a snake and two symbols on the other. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/gla

The image shows a woodland area in dappled sunlight coming through the tree cover. Front and centre a square of corroded metal railings surrounds a standing stone. It is partly covered in lichen, though traces of carvings can still be seen, especially what looks like a snake on the right side of the front face.
