Today, I shut off Apple's closed #iMessage service entirely. Now using #Beeper as a universal inbox, with #Signal, #WhatsApp & #Slack DMs ✅

Goal: shutting off all 🍏 services will make it much easier to switch to cheaper hardware in future. Which is why Apple’s entire business model depends on tying their hardware to their software & services

Is there a word for software that implements support for services that don't allow 3rd party client software? something like "adversarial interoperability"? I am using #Beeper as my main messenger app these days, with all the centralized platforms combined in one interface. When I run up against certain errors it makes me laugh at how fragile this all is. Beeper is the first app I have used that has actually provided a usable interface for this type of thing since Audium back in the day

Côté Méta, Il ne reste que #whatsapp mais là faut pas se voiler la face, ca va être bien plus compliqué. Mais bon déjà je vire l'app et je passe par #beeper

I am SO impressed by the latest version of #Beeper! So user-friendly (although Meta threw up a few security alerts while connecting my multiple accounts on its services).

This really demonstrates what good #interoperability for secure messengers can do — including features (like low priority messages) not even present in the original clients!

The universal #inbox is HERE! 🤩

It’s a pity to see that #Beeper is getting worst from 3.xx to 4.xx
There is no more scheduled messages :-( it was very nice feature.
I found that 4.xx is draining battery quickly.
The suspended bridges are completely down.

Cela ne concerne pas les 3 ou 4 tout premiers messages de la conversation, je me souviens avoir joué avec ce paramètre au tout début, mais vu qu'il apparaît bien désactivé depuis, les messages devraient pourtant rester 🤔

I have been toying around with Beeper app now that they have new shiny Mac and iPhone apps but it has left me confused. They advertise it with open source claims, distributed Matrix networks etc., which sounds excellent. But it insists I create account on their server, doesn't talk with my irc gateway and I'm not even able to intiate conversations with other Matrix users. This doesn't look open at all. Am I doing something wrong? #beeper #beeperapp #matrix

Well that was a wash. #beeper no longer wirks with #signal, and it appears they took away #IMessaging.

Mais ce n'est pas ce que je veux faire. En effet #Caliopen est un agrégateur de messagerie, dans le même style il y a #Beeper. Mais les deux demande d'avoir des comptes sur chaque plateforme et ne sont que des clients qui affichent plusieurs compte. En fait #Thunderbird aussi fait ça.

Mon projet est de n'avoir qu'un seul compte qui s'interface avec plusieurs plateforme "à l'extérieur".

Hey fellow fediversians, any thought on the #Beeper app? It feels very convenient to be able to get away from social but keep the messaging, but also feels like a data siphon and privacy disaster?

It asked on its own to export all past Telegram data, and I feel rather uninformed. It could at least say that it needs that for the chat history, and provide an option.
