In der Firma haben wir unsere #matrixorg von #Synapse auf ESS (#k3s) pro migrieren lassen. Das hat erstaunlich gut geklappt. Auch alte LDAP Accounts sind auf #oidc (Azure) gemappt worden. Es gab nur wenige Probleme, die aber hauptsächlich am #element lagen und der vielen Bugs.

Meinen privaten Server habe ich auf die Community Version umgebogen, allerdings hat bei mir die Migration nicht geklappt. Nicht dramatisch. Die alte DB war eh noch voll von Spam. Was noch nicht klappt: Element Call von Privat zur Firma. Aber von Firma zu Privat klappt. Allerdings hängt mein Server hinter einer #Haproxy hab noch keine Ahnung was das Problem ist.

Why the fuck is it so annoyingly annoying to set up #Synapse in docker?

Where the hell should I forward port 8448 to for having federation working? When forwarding to 8008 it fails with context deadline exceeded (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers), if I forward to anything else I get connection refused …

Non-federated usage is fine, I just cannot reach out to other server and other server cannot find me.

Anyone else seeing error spam in their Synapse logs, related to integer conversion in log messages? Possibly coupled with high CPU usage? :boost_ok:

Does anyone know if syanpse still requires a full extra deployment of MAS or if there's any support rolled into synapse yet? I don't want to have to run a whole extra database just to maintain OIDC support when using element-x, when synapse already supported it to begin with. Initially they required sliding sync as well, but they did away with running that as a separate deployment. Having to backup and maintain two databases for one service feels very overkill.

@element It usually takes a few minutes until all states are synced for the chats I am part of. I am only part of a few small chats aside from the Synapse Admins one (#synapse:matrix.org)

I just want to leave that chat so I can finally use my server in peace but even using the API client I'm only running into a timeout (please see the original toot)

I've been having some huge performance problems with my Matrix Synapse server and I think that might be related to me joining the Synapse Admins room (15k members). I already tried leaving the room again through FluffyChat (which runs into a "Oops something went wrong" error) and then via matrix-nio for python calling the API, that call goes through successfully but returns a 504 Gateway Timeout...what else can I do? Can I just delete the room from the DB? #matrix #matrixsynapse #synapse

Does Tuwunel work with ElementX (aka has sliding sync etc)? Does it work with video calls? Is it actively maintained?

I love the idea of a lighter weight Matrix server, but am mainly worried that it wouldn't support the basic features we need (eg video calls) or that it would fall behind SYnapse on some necessary stuff (although we don't care about stuff like spaces, threads etc).

The reverse proxy in front of my s3 bucket for backups went out because the host node ran out of space, so no backups could be made for the last 6 days…
On top of that, it seems like the PVC holding synapse’s media got reset for some odd reason ?

We couldn’t share pictures so I thought something else was off, the only real problem came up when I tried updating Synapse to the latest version, which through out various weird errors

Now trying to bring it back up…
