As #OMERO continues to serve as a powerful research data management system, the #bioimaging community is increasingly working with large, complex multimodal datasets that present new visualization challenges. To meet this growing need, Michele Bortolomeazzi, Christian Schmidt and Jan-Philipp Mallm at @nfdi4bioimage have developed a new OMERO-web plugin: OMERO-vitessce.

Today at #ELMI2025, @joshmoore presented the #Bioimaging community's immense efforts to pave the way to OME-Zarr 1.0 - Stable cloud-readiness for bioimage data is getting real.

The slides of his talk "The road to OME-Zarr 1.0: A FAIR future for bioimaging" are available in Zenodo:

The first poster session of #ELMI2025 which took place on Helix A last night, provided an ideal setting to exchange ideas with friends and colleagues about #bioimaging and #rdm.

Exciting projects were presented by @nfdi4bioimage including OMERO-vitessce and the IO-FAST initiative. Our data stewards were also on site, ready to offer advice on bioimaging #datamanagement.

Today, we will continue with talks, workshops, and the second poster session. We look forward to more inspiring talks! πŸ”¬

In Ep 12 of #spotLights, Jonathan Townson talks to Daniel Booth about his lab's recent #preprints (cell division mechanisms & new bioimaging tools), presented at #biologists100. One was recently published @J_Cell_Sci !

They also explore the value of preprinting for early-career PIs and their teams.

It was a pleasure to be a speaker at the "Shaping light in space and time for bioimaging" Ph.D. school in Erice! Met a selection of amazing scientists, and had a lot of fun discussing imaging and optics in a great location! #bioimaging #optics

The high degree of heterogeneity in #bioimaging #metadata makes collaboration difficult and often leads to the loss of relevant metadata. In the presentation β€œBioimaging Metadata”, which our @nfdi4bioimage colleagues Susanne Kunis and @joshmoore gave a few weeks ago, they discuss the reasons for this heterogeneity and which standards can be used to work towards loss-free and reusable metadata.

They have posted their slides on Zenodo:
