The #Voortrekkers established #Natalia in 1839 after defeating the #Zulu. The #UK in turn defeated the #Boers & annexed it as #ColonyOfNatal in 1843. On #ThisDayInHistory in 1897 it was doubled in size when the formerly independent kingdom of #Zululand (#kwaZulu) was added to it.

La Guerre des Boers est un conflit qui opposa , du 11 octobre 1899 au 31 mai 1902, les Britanniques et les colons d’origine néerlandaise (appelés alors #Boers puis #Afrikaners au XXe siècle) en Afrique du Sud. À la fin du deuxième conflit, les deux républiques fondées par les Boers perdirent leur indépendance et furent intégrées à l’empire britannique.
