For #1 I’d like to see some numbers: how many CxO roles are filled by graduates of those courses vs total and how many graduates end up within a reasonable time in CxO roles they weren’t earmarked for at enrolment

For #2 Given the vast resources at our fingertips, I wonder what the ivy league knows that isn’t available from other sources?

For #3 That’s the big wildcard. I’d love to gain insights on that. Are there studies?

A Mentee recently asked me if the “CxO” courses offered by the universities are worth the investment of in excess of 30k USD.

My answer: it depends. You have to look what you get out of it, which largely falls into three buckets:

1. Bragging rights and perceived value: how much are your chances improved to land a C level job?

2. Actual courses content and insights gained

3. The network. Does the course give you access to leaders and companies where you otherwise wouldn’t be noticed.

@isotopp also dass #CxO's todeslost sind hab ich selbst gemerkt als bei einem ehem. Arbeitgeber mit #Bürozwang 50% des #Linux-Teams vergrault (juristisch gesehen war das kein #Mobbing!) wurden und dann erstmal #crunchtime angesagt wurde.

  • Auf meine Frage als einer derjenigen die (noch) da waren, was für Konsequenzen darais gezogen würden - explizit nicht gehaltlich - wurde ich dann vom CEO angestarrt als hätte ich diesen persönlich beleidigt.

Da war mir klar, bei jener Firma gewinnste keinen Blumentopf mehr...

Inzwischen ist das gesamte Linux-Team (inkl. mir) und der IT-Leiter gegangen und jener #Bürofetisch aka. "Eskalierendes Commitment zur Gewerbeimmobilie" vergrault Kandidat*innen und Personalfirmen kündigen jenem Unternehmen als Kunden, weil #RTO und #Präsenzpflicht bei #IT die eh offsite ist weder zeitgemäß noch vermittelbar ist!

@sabi nodds in agreement the fact that they not only.refuse to cite sources but actually provide access to the raw dataset to review it is why only #TechIlliterate #Suits aka. #CxO's in big corporations believe #Gartner and other "#ResearchFirms" because they are as independent from corporations as the #plusXaward is from people wanting to pay fmto get awarded...

In fact, the #ConflictOfInterest of the 4,5 (#Accenture as a division of #ArthurAndersen survived #ENRON aka. The real #Ecorp / #EvilCorp.) #ConsultingFirms is too #sus for me.

  • But then again I believe #EY should've died like ArthurAndersen when #wirecard collapsed as they've been their #Auditors for the longest and only a extraordinary #Audit by #KPMG did explode in the faces of WireCard shareholders and managers that weren't in on the #fraud.

Gartner is just a means to promote #GarbageIdeas and #GarbageTech to #TechIlliterates in a Board Meeting.
