Taken /w 18 y.o. Sony Alpha 100 dslr. I don't need today's megapixels. 😀 Develpoped from #raw by using #digiKam on Linux. No further edits.

The face recognition on #Digikam is excellent.
I've tagged a few people and it can reliably identify their faces.
I would count this identification as Pareidolia, but I do find it deliciously ironic!
I'm trying out #Darktable as a #photography editing and organization application. Currently using #digikam, but its editing functionality felt a bit clunky, I like its organization functionality though.
Darktable is pretty advanced; it was hard to get started having just used regular image manipulation programs, but after watching some instruction videos, it clicked.
Bruce Williams channel has LOTS of videos, organized in playlists, like this for beginners:

I'm looking into pulling some of the photos off our phone to make some space; damn #Digikam is fancy
in typical KDE fashion it is PACKED with features and not afraid to show it!
@Parker51 I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they can still repair your camera (at a reasonably acceptable price). 👍👍
Well, I'll definitely order one or two rolls of black and white film every now and then, but I won't be able to afford something like daily shots anymore.
Yes, this wonderful slowness! I try to keep these when taking digital photographs. So I only use older cameras for this. My Minolta #DImage7 bridge camera, a Sony A300/350 or even Canon's 'Dinosaur' 300d every now and then.
On the one hand, these cameras are 'wonderfully slow' (the DImage7 takes between 30 and 40 seconds to save a 5MP RAW image), and on the other hand, I switched off image playback in all of them after taking photos.
This brings back much of the usual and beloved slowness. And the #CanonEos300d is very similar to the #Eos300v Analog SLR in many ways.
I then "develop" with #RawTherapee or the built-in importer from #digiKam. And I only make the corrections that I would have made with analog film.
So I'm already close to the old analogue feeling.
#Gwenview is a fast and easy to use image viewer.
#Krita is the full-featured digital art studio for creating digital paintings.
#DigiKam is an advanced digital photo management application.
#Showfoto is a fast image editor with powerful image editing tools and the standalone image editor of the DigiKam project.
#KPhotoAlbum is an application for tagging and managing photo collections and making it searchable.
#OptiImage allows you to optimize your images.
DigiKam and Shotwell are two popular photo management applications on Linux.
DigiKam is an powerful, feature-rich KDE application that offers advance features like RAW photo support and editing, metadata editing and tools for sharing photos online.
Shotwell is a user-friendly photo manager designed for the GNOME desktop environment that allows users to organize photos by events and keywords, view them in different modes, and sharing them online.
Showfoto is the fast image editor ingluded with DigiKam. You can use it to view your photographs and improve them. Showfoto is the standalone image editor from the digiKam project that provides a set of powerful tools to edit your photos.
@adamhsparks
Right photo management is a thing. I use #digikam , #darktable and #gimp are sufficient for me. However, I do not photography as you do.
digiKam can handle raw files, and the application uses the excellent LibRaw library for decoding raw files. The library is actively maintained and regularly updated to include support for the latest camera models. digiKam can also manage video files for cataloging purpose, and the application uses the FFmpeg backends to extract metadata and play media.
