On Cherry Walk, between 103 and 125th St on the Hudson. Finally above freezing this week. And finally warm enough for me to wear cycling shoes; I don't have dedicated winter cycling shoes. When it's really cold, I just bike with my snow boots. From that short bike ride on November 4, 2025. I have posted photos of this scene in the snow earlier. It's a little south of the George Washington Bridge on the Hudson greenway. See why I don't race: I take photos along the way. How come the runners are so focused on running that they don't stop for photos? I won't be able to get myself to exercise by discipline; it's adventure that gets me moving. I don't set things like distance goals, but if adventure demands me to ride 100 miles, then I will get into shape to do so. Yesterday, I was asked whether temples are still being built in Thailand today. Unfortunately, I can't answer that question.
The small temple in the Khao Tao reservoir, built in the 1960s and which I was able to photograph here in a beautiful evening setting, suggests that such structures are still being built today.
I suspect, however, that they are more likely to be smaller pavilions or shrines, as the maintenance of the country's existing 40,000 temples (of which approximately 33,000 are still in active use) alone certainly requires enormous effort and very high costs.

Gestern wurde ich gefragt, ob in Thailand denn auch heute noch Tempel gebaut werden. Diese Frage kann ich leider nicht beantworten.
Der kleine Tempel im Khao Tao Stausee, der in den 1960iger Jahren erbaut wurde und den ich hier in einer wunderschönen Abendstimmung fotografieren konnte, lässt jedoch den Schluss zu, dass auch in der heutigen Zeit noch derartige Bauwerke errichtet werden.
Ich vermute allerdings, dass es dann eher kleinere Pavillions oder Schreine sind, die allein die Erhaltung der bestehenden 40.000 Tempel im Land (von denen noch ca. 33.000 aktiv genutzt werden) mit Sicherheit einen enormen Aufwand und sehr hohe Kosten verursacht.
