Unternehmensinteressen haben die #CSDDD bereits erfolgreich abgeschwächt , betreiben nun aber noch aggressiver Lobbyarbeit für deren weitere Verwässerung. So hat beispielsweise #ExxonMobil intensiv für die Rücknahme der CSDDD geworben, unter anderem durch Lobbyarbeit bei der #US-Regierung für die Aufnahme der CSDDD in das erwähnte US-EU-Handelsabkommen und durch die Drohung, Investitionen in der #EU zurückzuziehen. #TotalEnergies und #Siemens haben im Namen von 46 europäischen Unternehmen den französischen Präsidenten Emmanuel #Macron und Bundeskanzler Friedrich #Merz direkt aufgefordert, die CSDDD abzuschaffen, obwohl einige dieser Unternehmen inzwischen zurückgerudert sind. Lobbyarbeit mag zwar ein normaler Bestandteil politischer Prozesse sein, doch die einseitige Beschwichtigungspolitik der Kommission ist beunruhigend – wie die auffällige Übereinstimmung zwischen ihrem Vorschlag und den Forderungen wichtiger Branchenverbände zeigt."
