Why did you choose your Fediverse Instance, does it have a bigger meaning than it was a bigger instance or was it for a certain reason? Did you have to be on your instance you chose?

I've got a #fediquestion for you!

I'd like to occasionally use DuckDuckGo's shopping tab, but I don't because it's always flooded with Amazon and similar vermin.

I don't understand modern web tech enough to have a clear picture of what I'm seeing, but with the web developer inspector I can see that each ad block is a distinct "li" with a random-seeming class. Within it in an "a" tag, and that "a" tag includes:

ad_domain=amazon.com

I naively thought duckduckgo.com##li:has(> a:has([ad_domain="amazon.com"]))
would do it for me but it seems not to, and I'm not wholly clear on what I've bungled.

I'd be happy with either DuckDuckGo- or uBlock Origin-specific solutions. Or I can do something more interesting if required.

Dear #mastodon power-users: Is there a way in the "advanced web interface" to hide those "hide" and "alt" buttons? Or just to move them *away* from the image? I find it a really poor design choice this already tiny image content by active buttons.

Question to the #fediverse: what can be used as a replacement to Facebook groups? A Mastodon instance? Something else?
The only reason i still use fb is because of the many support groups that are active there.
Some have migrated to Discord but i don't like it as it doesn't have *indented* threaded replies like fb or Masto have, and thus making it hard to follow conversations.

Cooking question for #FediCooks :

Has anyone ever by accident or intentionally left out bay leaves when cooking baked beans? If so, did you notice the difference?

I have so far left out
1. Tomato paste (by accident, it was noticeably absent)
2. Apple cider vinegar (by accident, it was also noticeably absent)
3. Jalapeno pepper (obviously by accident and also obviously could tell the difference)
4. Onion (last time, also by accident and definitely was not as good).
5. Beans. (Just kidding)

But the bay leaves? So far never forgot to add them.

What does setting the location on #Pixelfed do?*

It's not tagging the image with the location (or does it?) so it doesn't seem to turn up in searches for the tag? And if you search for a town in Pixelfed you only get accounts with that name and tags containing it.
