I believe I've shared this before, but it fits today's #BirdOfTheDay theme: #FoodFinds A Red-Tailed Hawk (local hero named Christo) scarfs down a rat. Nom nom nom...🪶 #Raptors

An adult male Red-Tailed Hawk named Christo scarfs down a rat. You can just see the rat's back feet and tail sticking out of the hawk's mouth. Christo looks a little disheveled as he is molting. His wings are dark brown, his chest and legs are mostly white, and his head is light brown and scruffy as he's losing feathers. His eyes resemble chocolate marbles.
Christo was a resident of NYC 2013-2025 and we miss him dearly.

the bird is white, has a head plume. the lower body feather are dirty (black in color) from the pollution in the dock side.

a green bird that has an insect in its beak is looking away from the photographer - the bird is green with shades of yellow and blue. its perched on a branch (perfectly focused) - as a result the insect is just slightly out of focus

a purple sunbird with iridescent blue feathers perched on a bunch of red flowers, with its long beak in the bloom to drink the nectar.

a black kite after grabbing something from the sea, is holding its claw closer to its mouth, so it can eat mid flight.

the bird has yellow claws, and a yellow beak ending in black tip. the wings are brown and white, and the flight wings are more brown. tail is fanned out.

the head is brown and light falling on it makes it glow.

Au centre de la photo, face caméra, un petit oiseau rondelet au ventre blanc, collier brun, gorge blanche et masque brun autour des yeux. Il a de longues pattes, et se tient debout dans une fine étendue d'eau qui renvoie son reflet comme un miroir. Il tient un ver dans son bec. Derrière lui, on voit que l'étang est presque à sec avec des étendues de vase grise barrées de quelques flaques d'eau miroitante. La photo a été prise à la fin du jour, la lumière dorée éclaire délicatement l'oiseau sur sa droite.
