A colleague I hadn't told I'm non-binary complimented my look and used the equivalent of "dude". I casually said that I'm not a dude. He took it very well, said that it's good to know and proceeded to ask what would be a good term. As I was wondering out loud, he continued with "or maybe you just are yourself". Not only was this exchange super positive, it was the first time I told this to someone without feeling nervous. 💜

We had a short meeting with tutor student representatives about scheduling the beginning of the fall term for the new students. As I've decided I'll come out as non-binary to all the new students and the remaining colleagues in the first meeting of the fall, I thought it's better that the tutor students know this beforehand. So I told this to the representatives. One of them seemed to get sparks in her eyes. I take this as a good sign.

A colleague came to my office with some cake and a question whether I have nail polish here she can borrow for one occasion. I did, two in fact. She chose the silver one and came back showing the black-and-silver dress she's going to wear. I love these new types of interaction unlocked by understanding I'm non-binary. 💜

Now that I'm out as my true non-binary self, wearing dangling earrings, the lovely long cardigan etc. I've sensed a change in the way certain colleagues talk with me. I mean that they use more cutesy language, comment on my outfits and so on. Seems that the conversations linger more on the feminine side than what I've been used to from the times when I thought I'm a guy. I feel at home in this environment and wholeheartedly welcome this change! 💜

So hab mich bei meiner Großmutter als nichtbinär geoutet und sie hat das ziemlich gut hingenommen. Anscheinend hat sie was darüber im Fernsehen gesehen und hat direkt gefragt ob ich Neopronomen nutzen möchte.

Auch wenn die Oma manchmal ein etwas altbackenes Wortschatz benutzt (sie ist 83), meint sie es nicht böse und ist meist eher tolerant eingestellt.
