The Getty Institute just launched a new online publication “Ed Ruscha's Streets of Los Angeles: Artist, Image, Archive, City", which includes several map visualizations we created to explore the vast digitized collection of Ruscha’s photographs of LA over the years.

The entire publication is online, including videos, visualizations, zoomable images, and more: getty.edu/publications/ruscha/

Unearthed in southern Italy, this 2,300-year-old dog-headed drinking vessel—called a rhyton—offers a rare glimpse into how ancient Greeks blended art, ritual, and wine.

Crafted in the era of Magna Graecia, it's both bizarre and beautiful.

Some highlights from my visit to the #GettyMuseum today. First time in 17 years I’ve seen any of these works in person, despite living only an hour away.

An exceptional painting by the 19th century French Impressionist painter Gustave Caillebotte of labourers scraping away old flooring.A vibrant painting by 19th century artist Pablo Picasso of violet irises in the garden of the asylum he checked himself into after cutting off his ear.A 17th century Spanish manuscript depicting the adoration of Manco Capac, who is believed to be the first governor of Cusco and founder of the Inca Civilization.A large painting by 17th century Dutch artist Phillips Koninck of an imagined Dutch landscape.

🪷 #Marlborough Intaglio with #Antinous in black chalcedony was once the prize piece of the Anton Maria Zanetti collection. #GettyMuseum bought it at Christie's Inc in 2019 for $2.1 million. It is now on public display for the first time ever. More here: antinousstars.blogspot.com/202 🪷

The Getty Center. 2019. I've lost count of the number of times I've been here but it never fails to inspire me. The Getty is such an immersive experience. You feel like you're entering a bubble of the future every time.
