A large, symmetrical oval tree dominates the image, occupying most of the left of the frame. It is seen in silhouette, backlit by a gentle pink sunrise lower down, and a pale blue-grey sky higher up. To the right, near the bottom a muted orange-pink sun is a little above the horizon, shining through a sea fog. Below it the distant plain is lit a dull pink, and a dam reflects the soft light. High in the negative space at the top right a flock of little birds can just be seen, flying away from the large tree and out. There was a steady stream of them for perhaps a minute, sometimes in bursts, sometimes single-file.
