Hancock County/Bar Harbor KBHB → Augusta State KAUG

I move a bit away from the coast toward the interior. Many lakes nestled in extensive forested areas offer a beautiful view of the Northeastern USA. The snow-covered White Mountains are already visible on the horizon.

Instead of letting the ILS bring me down to the the runway, I decide at short notice to land by hand after all.

An aerial view depicts a small propeller-driven airplane positioned on a curved taxiway marked with the number "22", adjacent to a longer runway also displaying "22". The aircraft is stationary near the junction of the taxiway and the main runway. The airport is surrounded by expansive green grassy fields, with dense forests lining both sides of the runway. In the distance, a body of water and low-lying mountains are visible under a partly cloudy sky. Scattered residential buildings and additional airport infrastructure, including multiple taxiways and runway markings, are present near the forested areas. The scene captures a typical airport environment with natural landscapes forming a backdrop to the aviation infrastructure, featuring clear signage and well-defined pathways for aircraft movement.A small single-engine propeller airplane with a white fuselage and visible markings on its tail flies at a low altitude over a vast, calm body of water. The water surface reflects the sky’s clouds and sunlight, creating a bright, shimmering vertical path. Surrounding the aircraft are numerous forested islands, densely covered in dark green trees, with some showing winding roads and scattered residential structures near their edges. In the distance, additional landmasses stretch toward the horizon under a sky filled with soft, diffused clouds. The scene presents a tranquil waterway landscape with the plane navigating above the water, surrounded by islands, dense forests, and a partly cloudy sky.A white single-engine propeller airplane with red and black accents on its tail and fuselage flies at low altitude over a sprawling landscape. The aircraft features a swept wing and a conventional tail configuration, with “TBM 930” in red and black text visible on the dark tail section. It moves across a terrain defined by numerous interconnected lakes, dense forested regions, and a visible road with scattered buildings. Below, the lakes display varying shades of deep blue, while the surrounding forests are a rich, dark green. A winding road cuts through the greenery, leading toward a small cluster of structures. The sky above is bright blue with soft, wispy clouds scattered across it, contributing to a clear, sunny atmosphere. The scene captures a tranquil aerial perspective over a remote, natural environment with the airplane as the central focus in flight.A white single-engine aircraft with red and dark blue accent stripes is in flight, its propeller spinning as it moves through the air. The plane is positioned slightly above a vast expanse of dense green forests and scattered water bodies, including several lakes and a meandering river. The sky above is clear and bright blue with a few distant clouds, and the sun shines brightly behind the plane, creating a subtle glow along its wing. Below, the terrain features rolling hills covered in thick vegetation, with small clearings and additional bodies of water visible. The scene depicts a serene aerial view over a natural landscape, emphasizing the plane’s altitude and the expansive, tranquil environment beneath it. The aircraft’s design includes a streamlined fuselage and a tail fin with a black tip. The landscape below includes patches of open land, winding waterways, and distant mountain ranges on the horizon. The overall atmosphere conveys calmness and openness, with the plane navigating through a pristine, forested region under a clear sky.

St. Stephen CCS3 → Hancock County/Bar Harbor KBHB

A dense cloud cover meant hardly any light reached the ground – but plenty of snow did. The anti-ice systems had their hands full, and I only just managed to reach the ILS minima.

A small single-engine airplane, predominantly white with a red tail section, flies away from the viewer in a hazy sky. The aircraft is centered, viewed from the rear, with its wings level and nose angled slightly upward. The sky is a uniform, muted gradient of light gray at the top transitioning to a deeper grayish-brown toward the bottom, creating an overcast atmosphere with no visible clouds, horizon, or other objects. The airplane’s propeller is visible in motion. The scene conveys isolation and calm, with the airplane appearing to navigate through calm, hazy conditions. The overall impression is one of quiet flight amid diffuse, diffused light, emphasizing the airplane’s solitary presence against the soft, monochromatic backdrop.Aircraft cockpit interior viewed from the pilot's perspective, showing multiple digital flight instruments and control panels. Through the curved windshield, a thick, overcast sky dominates the view, filled with hazy gray tones and faint streaks of light resembling rain or snow. Inside the cockpit, the dashboard features several illuminated displays: on the left, a screen shows a blue horizon line with a white vertical marker, numerical values including "011" and "110", and a red heading indicator reading "222". The central console has labeled controls like "HDG", "APR", "NAV", "FD", "CRS1", "ALT SEL", "VS", "FLC", and "CRS2", with knobs and switches around them. The rightmost screen displays a map with green landmasses, blue water bodies, and a white circular position marker, alongside text such as "NAV", "CRS2", and other flight data. Below the windshield, the cockpit's structure includes dark gray panels and curved framing around the view. The overall scene indicates active flight through clouds, with the instruments monitoring altitude, speed, navigation, and heading while the exterior remains obscured by the overcast conditions.A Daher TBM 930 aircraft, identifiable by its white fuselage with red and black stripes and the bold black "TBM" lettering alongside red "930" on the tail, is in flight. The view shows the aircraft's wing on the right and the tail section in the foreground, suggesting a perspective from inside the cockpit. There's ice building up on the wings and tail of the aircraft. The plane is approaching a runway, evidenced by the illuminated runway lights visible through a thick fog that blankets the landscape. Below, the terrain is entirely covered in snow, with snow-laden trees and open fields stretching into the distance, creating a muted, grayish atmosphere. The fog limits visibility, making the surrounding area appear hazy and obscured, while the aircraft’s smooth, white wing and the distinct color markings on the tail stand out against the wintry scene. The overall setting conveys a cold, overcast winter day during a low-altitude approach.A small single-engine propeller aircraft is in the process of landing on a wet runway. Its landing gear is extended, and it is descending toward the ground. Snow is falling heavily, creating a dense, gray atmosphere with visible snowflakes streaking through the air. The runway surface is dark and reflective, mirroring the plane’s landing lights which create bright, elongated reflections on the wet pavement. To the right, a line of snow-covered trees borders the runway, while the left side shows faint runway markings and markers. The sky is overcast and muted, contributing to the wintry, dimly lit scene. The overall setting suggests a cold, snowy day at an airport, with the aircraft navigating through the falling snow toward the landing strip.

#PortlandME, 2 Maine counties named 'sanctuary jurisdictions' by Trump administration

Brad Rogers,WGMEFri, May 30th 2025 at 8:04 PM

PORTLAND (WGME) -- "The Department of Homeland Security is putting more than 500 '#SanctuaryJurisdictions' across the country on notice.

"The Trump administration says cities and counties on the list are obstructing immigration enforcement and standing in the way of President Donald Trump's #MassDeportations.

"Portland, #CumberlandCounty and #HancockCounty made the list in #Maine.

"Cumberland County believes it made the list because it won't illegally hold detainees for ICE and won't do ICE's job.

"The Trump administration is increasing pressure on communities it claims are protecting people who they say are 'violent criminal illegal aliens.' " [You know, like trade workers and business owners!]

Study to focus on how #PFAS travels from Maine's rural schools to #ResidentialWells

MDI Bio Lab plans to sample water from homeowners near several #HancockCounty schools.

"Scientists say #cleaning supplies and #FloorWax commonly used in schools are made with PFAS chemicals that go through septic systems and seep into the #groundwater. Mount Desert Island Regional School System Superintendent Mike Zboray said the district hopes to switch to #PFASfree alternatives."
