Yaneve the Warrior found this Leather Cap earlier in the adventure. It matches the leather tunic nicely, but this outfit is unlikely to be sufficient against the orcs and skeletal swordsmen of this dungeon. Yaneve would be wise to beat a hasty retreat. The Leather Cap is enlarged in the inset.

Well, I had the dip switches set incorrectly and it was trying to test memory that didn't exist. Fixed that and the floppy drives seem to work as well...

I'm also impressed that the Dell System 200 DOS 3.3 Master disk (circa 1987) is still working.

Blade Combat in #StarCadre Combat Class allows for accuracy in stabbing with a blade. This is a common skill for Medics and Scouts. You don't need this to use a blade to free hostages though. https://cyningstan.itch.io/star-cadre-combat-class #ibmpc #msdos #cga

Scout Braniethyn has Blade 4 as their main combat skill. Which is fortunate, as the only equipment they are supplied with is a blade. Level 4 in a skill gives an 8 in 9 chance of success when using it.

Keys are used to open locked chests and grates. Unlike a lockpick, usage of the correct key to open a chest or grate gives a 100% chance of success and requires no skill. Brittina has picked up a key, among other things, from the nearby chest. All of the keys in The Chambers Beneath look the same, but each has a unique description. This description matches the chest or grate lock that the key opens. So the chest that has a complex copper lock will be unlocked with the complex copper key. The key is enlarged in the inset.

Hier gibt's ab sofort die offiziellen, deutschsprachigen 3,5 Zoll Disketten von Windows 3.0. Konkret handelt es sich um die Version 3.00a aus dem Jahre 1991. Das System passte damals noch auf sieben 720K DD-Datenträger.

Dumping a few fresh floppy disks in DMF format using my trusty, old KryoFlux. 80 cylinders of 21 sectors each gives them a capacity of 1.68MB. This format was mostly used for software distribution by Microsoft.

Aniere the Warrior shows off their shiny new Iron Helmet, which will protect their head in forthcoming adventures. As Aniere's Dodging skill increases, so can the armour that they wear. The helmet is enlarged in the inset.

To this day, the original "Maniac Mansion" remains to be one of the coolest games in my entire DOS collection! Not the fancy, "enhanced" version from 1989, everyone knows, but the classic release from early 1988. It looked very much like the C64 version, but for IBM-PC. This was sold on a single, 360K 5.25inch floppy disk. If you're into retro stuff, you should definitely check this out!

Meleel the Ranger meets Rasto, Tyrant of Endredil. Endredil shows Meleel a picture of the Idol of Authority, which has disappeared from the city and is somewhere in The Chambers Beneath. Idols are one of four types of treasure that can be the object of the city ruler's quest. An Idol is enlarged in the inset.

Light Firearms skill in #StarCadre Combat Class is for firing the laser pistol. The Auxiliary has this as their primary skill, but sometimes scouts and medics may also have Light Firearms as their main combat skill.
