And this is my drawing based on Final Fantasy 4 (SNES). A magic spell, like a magic carpet, transports you to an ice cave. It's bright here. Because the ice glows and reflects a lot of light. It's magic ice. Absolutely. You land on your feet. And look around! Everything around is made of ice. A real ice cave!

Tell you what else happened today. I found myself exploring an #IceCave. That was pretty cool. (See what I did there?)

But what was most unexpected was that amongst all of the Japanese people visiting there was me, and randomly, a woman from Salford.

We could have been any nationality, honestly. But we recognised each other by our accents and were basically best mates by the end of our chat. 😁

Shiny blue-grey walls of an ice cave, carved from many layers marked by stripes of volcanic ash embedded in the glacier, forms a round portal and frames the view: just outside, heaps of dark grey volcanic ash and glacial till give way to a floodplain of dark volcanic rock. In the background, a green mountain rising steeply from the horizon and a clear blue sky beyond.

Even in winter the falls can be swarming with children, but today it was just us. There was an interesting cavern behind the frozen cascade to explore! Zeena checked it out, but ultimately the humans found it more interesting.

Human Jeff and husky Zeena approach a mysterious, dark hole behind part of a frozen cascade of a waterfall formed over the edge of a wide, flat rock formation. They hug the edge near the waterfall to avoid the thinner ice of the stream below, off to the right.

Zeena is first to arrive at the hole and pokes her head in, inquisitively. It's a vertical hole, about as wide as a door, but half as tall, with long thin strands of ice draping down over the top of the entrance.

Jeff has now reached the hole and crouches a bit to look inside. It's a slightly closer view, showing more detail of the various icicles and bulbous flows of frozen water all around, and some stalagmites poking up from the cavern floor.

Zeena has lost interest and now explores the surface of the frozen stream with her nose, at the end of her leash. Jeff crouches even lower, looking inside.
