Gunnar D Hansson har kommit med en ny översättning av diktverket Beowulf på svenska. Den mesta kända och spridda översättningen gjordes av Björn Collinder år 1954 och det är också den senaste innan Gunnar D Hanssons översättning kom ut.

Q: Did Dale Have A More Advanced Culture Than Rohan?

ANSWER: The city of Dale has fascinated Tolkien fans for decades. I’ve answered several questions about Dale through the years. And in February 2025 I received the following questions:

Why is Dale depicted as so much more sophisticated and wealthy than Rohan? Is this just because of its proximity to Erebor, or is there more to this?

Also […]

Tolkien inspires naming of four peregrine falcons
bbc.com/news/articles/c7712rd7

Excellent floof, and an interesting naming scheme thanks to community involvement. Presumably they, like Great Eagles of the Misty Mountains, won't fly into Mordor casually.

Q: Did Tolkien Hobbits Really Have Big Feet?

ANSWER: I received a somewhat lengthy inquiry in February 2025 about Hobbit feet (and ears):

Analogous to the question already answered as to whether elves have pointed ears (thank you for the confirmation [Michael’s note: That they do NOT have pointy ears]), I have been wondering for some time why Hobbits are always and exclusively depicted with […]

Q: What Was Gandalf’s Plan For Getting The Ring Into The Fire?

ANSWER: This question has come up a few times in the past 75-ish years. And I received this iteration of it in October 2024:

You’ve probably gotten this one a hundred times, but I was wondering what Gandalf’s plan might have been for getting the Ring into the Fire? I haven’t read past The Treason of Isengard yet (took a side […]

In the deepest vaults of Silicon Valley, where the shadows of ambition lie thick, two artifacts of ancient power have stirred from their long slumber. The palantír—the Seeing-Stone that pierces all veils—and Andúril, the Flame of the West reforged, have found their way into mortal hands once more.

But lo! These are no mere trinkets of fantasy. In our age, they bear the names of mighty corporations, wielding technologies that would make even the Wise tremble. Their masters speak of defending the realm, yet Tolkien himself warned us: the greatest perils oft come not from the obviously wicked, but from those convinced of their own righteousness.

Do these modern stewards possess the wisdom of Aragorn, who wielded both artifacts with restraint? Or have they forgotten the Professor's most solemn warning—that the desire to do good may lead to the very tyranny one seeks to prevent?

A convergence most fateful has begun. The question that remains is whether we have eyes to see it.

Come, brave reader, and venture forth into this tale of power and peril, where mythology meets modernity:

A glowing crystal orb rests atop a black marble pedestal, swirling with golden and pale blue light. Beside it, a luminous sword lies embedded in rocky ground, its hilt adorned with elegant detailing. Ethereal beams of energy connect the two artifacts. Behind them, a dramatic mountain landscape rises on both sides, cradling a reimagined Washington, D.C. — the Washington Monument stands tall to the left, while a fantasy-style Capitol building dominates the right. Storm clouds churn above, casting a twilight glow across the scene. The overall atmosphere blends epic fantasy with American neoclassical architecture, evoking majesty, mystery, and power.

Le Retour du Roi (Le Seigneur des Anneaux 3) 🎧 – J.R.R. Tolkien
