When we moved I decided I wanted to get the TV setup of my dreams (at least a somewhat affordable approximation of my dreams). So I got an OLED tv, a nice soundbar with surround speakers, and ARGB bias lighting with sync box. It’s really hard to get my 7yo to sit long enough for a movie but tonight was our first movie night where I really got to try it all in full effect. It was AWESOME!

Just confirmed that my 2013 #LEGO Galaxy Squad sets contain the same garbage brown, red brown parts as my 2013 #LEGOMovie Metalbeard's Sea Cow and 2013 Maersk container ship.

So, another 10-14 defective sets on my shelves.

Glad I went on a LEGO buying hiatus from from ~2015 to 2021.

Now wondering how infected the 2012 Monster Fighters and 2014-2016 Star Wars are. Thankfully they are mostly blacks and greys.

I'd say I have about ~$500Cdn worth of garbage parts. Not amused.😠

I noticed that my Opuntia azurea (commonly known as Purple prickly pear) is in bloom! I haven't managed to catch this one in bloom before. Lots of cactus flowers only last a day so if you miss them you're out of luck for another year.

So the #SuperMarioBros #movie was... fine?

The animation was really good, but the real flaw is that it's ultimately forgettable. I don't expect folks will remember it exists come Christmas time.

Kids will enjoy it but compared to something like the #LegoMovie it's a missed opportunity.

Also the music/score of the movie is confused. One moment, excellent renditions of game tracks, then suddenly 80's over used pop? Really quite jarring!

Ich suche einem Film, den ich vor ~20 Jahren mal gesehen hab, wo eine Figur in einem Computerspiel Bewusstsein entwickelt und Fremdsteuerung und ewiger Wiederholung durch Auslöschung entkommen möchte (wobei des ein Nebenhandlungsstrang des Films ist).

Die Figur kann mit jemandem in der sogenannten realen Welt reden, und der soll ihm helfen.

Ich hab sie optisch als stämmigen Mexikaner (?) mit halblangem schwarzen Haar und Lederjacke in Erinnerung.

In the first film, the song Everything Is Awesome changes not one bit in the slightest, but the meaning behind it changes massively over the course of the film and it's a cool thing to witness happen.

The reprisal of it as Everything's Not Awesome in the second movie is beautiful and fits the tone and message of that movie absolutely perfectly.
