Live demos can be a gamble—just ask Google their previous AI demo caused $100M to vanish after a fail

Consider this before going live: Is it absolutely needed? A polished prerecorded video can often hit the mark without the risk.

Live demos aren’t always authentic either. Think of Samsung’s staged moon photos. Be strategic—go live only if it genuinely boosts your message. Avoid unnecessary cringe moments if possible.

@coocook The codename "Nachtwache" (night watch) comes from this one night before we had a presentation at the last #Sommerlager #conference. We desperately wanted to #release the new UI before the talk. But at 2am we found a blocker bug and realized we couldn't make it happen. We finished the talk notes (including a #LiveDemo but in a development environment!) at 4am. What a night!

I was asked to do a presentation as part of an interview process today, so I walked through a project I built to pull bike rides off my watch, calculate a bunch of metrics, and display those metrics in graphs.

Near the end, one of the engineers asked to see it in action. I'd been committing changes to this not an hour before the call. It ran great, but oh boy I wasn't expecting a live demo.
