I spilled coffee in my laptop keyboard, destroying it, and Im sending it off to get repaired which will probably take a week or two.

This weekend I made a lot of progress on my Classic Mac OS app template in C!

I have ideas for tools I want to make (mainly for #GlobalTalk), but need a foundation to build on. AIRConfig was built on of some very basic sample code included with MPW and really not suitable for extending even as far as I went with AIRConfig

There are also full-blown frameworks like MacApp and PowerPlant, but they seem like quite a lot of complexity to learn just for small tools

It seems likely he will be removed if this election plays out as the current conservative pollsters are pushing: they are clearly pushing the narrative of "if not #CPC, then #LPC at any cost!"

Which I find extremely telling. Do we really want to elect Angus Reid's second choice after #PP?

Reality is: most #BC and #AB ridings are more likely to elect #NDP or CPC than LPC. This may be true in #SK & #MB, and elsewhere. We need clean data from the sources, not Fournier's weighted model.

This double cd collects two cassette releases from 1980 by this #noise and #industrial pioneer.

In total almost two hours of experimental noise/drone stuff. #MB used Roland SH-1000 and Korg MS-20 on these recordings.
Basically long "how does this synth work" type improvisations. Lots of pulsating oscillators and buzzing drones.

Everything is probably recorded on one take and there's a nice "live" feeling.
The tracks don't really progress anywhere and as a whole they are quite a chore to listen through.
Not too harsh or unpleasant frequencies, but frankly just boring and monotonous most of the time.
There are some interesting parts though. Actually the final track is quite ok.

I completed 1 in time for March 1, and 2 by the middle of the month, 2 felt like redemption for something that felt like failure last year. Never had the time/desk space for 3, but maybe that'll be a good post-March project? #mb… (1/5)

One thing some of us have been playing with on #GlobalTalk this #MARCHintosh is LACS, an AppleTalk chat system

But LACS isn't just another chat app - it's deep Apple lore. LACS started out at Apple as "RumorMonger", an experiment in decentralized chat. But this was back when Apple was heavily dysfunctional, full of project fiefdoms and yearly layoffs, so an anonymous bullhorn like this could really go crazy, leading to it spreading like wildfire.

This explains the sternly-worded dialog...

Rumor Monger was a non-attributed (anonymous) chat system developed by Harry Chesley in Apple's Advanced Technology Group.
Originally, the project was focused on peer-to-peer, decentralized chat, using an epidemic distribution algorithm originally developed at Xerox PARC. The ability to post anonymous messages being just one minor feature. But as usage spread around Apple, it quickly became clear that the combination of easy access (Rumor Monger was left running in the background on user's machine, and was thus just a click away) plus anonymity created a unique social space. Essentially, there was no barrier between thinking something and posting it on Rumor Monger. This led to two things: First, an unprecedentedly low level of "intelligent" content. And second, posting of thoughts that previously would have been kept strictly internal: everything from insults to harassment to company criticism to really bad haggis jokes.
(In fairness, at least one group also saw it as a way to brainstorm project design ideas.)
Apple management panicked, seeing visions of harassment suits, and tried to
"turn it off." But, being a good, decentralized system, it was essentially impossible to switch off.

This is the "emergency vintage Mac rig" I pulled together in order to rush TalkCrawler out the door in time for #MARCHintosh . All of the development was done in this position (well, some was done in bed), giving me a back ache in the process.

Today I'm finally going to take the time to upgrade my setup to something more sustainable, maybe if I do that, I can start on my GlobalTalk Chat rewrite project!
