Checking out matrix synapse on my Unraid setup, wondering if anyone has experience getting a TURN server running with the matrix synapse app for Unraid's docker environment?
@soatok I would be concerned, but I tried to join the #Codeberg matrix space from a not #matrixorg home server and even after letter it sit over night, it still did not manage
Encontré el cliente «perfecto» para Matrix. Se llama commet.chat . Y le llamo perfecto porque es el único donde he visto que puedes personalizar tu perfil (Banner, descripción, estado, etc), además tiene llamadas (1:1 hasta ahora).
Tiene otras cosas interesantes como poder crear rooms para galerías o Calendarios.

In der Firma haben wir unsere #matrixorg von #Synapse auf ESS (#k3s) pro migrieren lassen. Das hat erstaunlich gut geklappt. Auch alte LDAP Accounts sind auf #oidc (Azure) gemappt worden. Es gab nur wenige Probleme, die aber hauptsächlich am #element lagen und der vielen Bugs.
Meinen privaten Server habe ich auf die Community Version umgebogen, allerdings hat bei mir die Migration nicht geklappt. Nicht dramatisch. Die alte DB war eh noch voll von Spam. Was noch nicht klappt: Element Call von Privat zur Firma. Aber von Firma zu Privat klappt. Allerdings hängt mein Server hinter einer #Haproxy hab noch keine Ahnung was das Problem ist.
@eff @Thorin it’s a good start but it’s still centralized and vulnerable to censorship. Signal is blocked or restricted in China, Iran, Egypt, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, Russia, Cuba, Uzbekistan
Decentralized and federated is better!

Die VM ist fast so alt, wie ich für die Firma arbeite. Nun zieht eine Firma das Ganze auf ESS Enterprise um (einzelne VM mit k3s, weil ….) und ich habe vorerst weniger Arbeit an der Backe 😊
Gestern Abend „schnell“ noch #matrixorg Synapse Update in der Firma machen wollen. Service kommt nicht wieder … Log sagt, will #PostgreSQL Minimum 14 oder 15(?). Ich:🙄 Dann eben Rollback: apt install synapse…=<Alte Version> . Debian sagt: 🤷

Spent some time of the new year together with like-minded people to explore alternatives for creating a social hub in Sweden to make a transition easier from solutions such as LI, X and Facebook!
There are a lot of interesting solutions out there in the #fediverse and around with different degrees of maturity.
I really liked #misskey, which I will likely look more at - but in the end a combination of #lemmy, #mastodon & #matrixorg is likely more feasible.
#mobilizon could be an add-on for events specifically, but needs some polish. Has anyone had any good experience in building communities with a set of tooling?
Got a question to the Matrix users here. For a community project we have a Matrix room at Matrix.org with many orphaned users. Is it somehow possible to kick users which are idle for a certain amount of time to clean that up?

Matrix.org - работает только через VPN, тяжело зарегистрироваться
Synod.im - немецкий, работает без VPN, успешно зарегистрировался.
Sibnsk.net - не приходит токен для завершения регистрации, уже 2 недели жду.
Nerdsin.space - не открывается нигде и никак, но там есть релевантные публичные комнаты и аудитория соответственно.
Я начинаю понимать, что поднять свой инстанс Matrix на своём VPS наверное не такая уж плохая идея.
Хочется что-нибудь такое же хорошенькое как snac. Чтоб оперативки ело 6 мегабайтов и функционал минималистичный, но достаточный. Сомневаюсь что synapse такой. Есть конечно и другие реализации на go/rust/c++, но навряд ли они тоже минималистически для одного пользователя.
Может самому навайбкодить. На Node.js например. Есть, правда, matrix-js-sdk. Но он на TypeScript, а он мне не нравится. ChatGPT показала примеры и там везде json. Вроде всё просто.
Но всё-же каким-то случайным действием удаётся в аварийном режиме открыть форму. Заполняю форму. Там говориться, что должен быть модератор и он должен быть всегда доступен. Также комната должна быть про Matrix или другом открытом проекте, или интересна команде сервера. Что-то в CryptoPad-е происходит и страница с недозаполненной формой исчезает. Я понимаю, что мой канал плохо подходит под эти требования и надо искать другой сервер.
Подумал один из своих Телеграм-каналов перенести в matrix ради эксперимента.
Пошёл на matrix.org. Через VPN смог до него дойти. Страницы регистрации кривовато открывались в моих староватых браузерах. Но за два дня всё-таки удалось зарегистрироваться используя почту на gmail.com. Ещё день ушёл на поиск работающего клиента на Linux. Им оказался Qutarion. И ещё день на поиск подходящего VPN, через который можно успешно подключаться и общаться.
Создал публичную комнату и пошёл регистрировать на matrixrooms.info. А там заметка, что в случае matrix.org нужно заявку подать у них, чтоб они сделали эту комнату по-настоящему публичной. Перехожу по ссылке к ним. На странице ссылка на форму. Иду туда. Там некий CryptoPad, который ни в каком моём браузере не открывается. Что с VPN, что без него.
