Unrelated;
1) #opnsense is great, but I'm glad I gave myself some time to make the switch. Nothing quite like learning a new #firewall platform. Biggest issue looks to be migrating a bunch of #DHCP leases and static IP allocations to the new system. My actual firewall policies are simple.

2) ##opnborg looks great, but has next to no web presence.

3) #jellfin I went down the rabbit hole of trying to improve the search and subject into #meilisearch. It looks fantastic and as though it would handily speed up search queries.. except that the plug-in was written for 10.10 and no longer works correctly. So now I've signed myself up to figure out why it doesn't behave. Taking most searches to over a second would be a massive improvement. I'm stunned that the #jf team hasn't done something about it. Even adding a debounce while typing would be hugely beneficial thing.

Side note: one of the only reasons I'm hesitant to switch to Mongo's full text search is that I'm the maintainer of mongodb_meilisearch which makes integration with #Meilisearch trivial for Rails geeks with #MongoDB backed apps.

I'm proud of that.

Of course, AFAIK _literally_ no-one uses it but me, so it's kinda silly to be hesitant to let it go.

But damn it, people _should_ use it.

I just pushed a new version of MongoDB Meilisearch

v2.2.1 Fixes a bug when it attempts to report an error. Sadly, this doesn't appear in the test environment, only in real usage when there's a problem connecting to #Meilisearch Ugh.

I've been thinking there's something wrong with my #Meilisearch results in @backup_brain

Ex. I just searched for "dyson" and got a page I'd bookmarked ages ago about Covid research, and other things that seemingly had nothing to do with Dyson or its products.

Turns out the covid page included the word "dysautonomia" so I think that's just a case of stemming gone horribly wrong.

and the other pages actually included the word "Dyson".

takeaway: good search results are hard.

Bonus features:

- Related videos (unfortunately requires OpenAI API key) API that can be also embedded to the #peertube instances

用 #Docker 很容易安裝 #PGroonga ，只要把docker image名稱換掉即可，反而是建立PGroonga專用的索引花了一點時間。順便把本站升級到2025.1.0-beta.1，測試搜尋還蠻快的。用起來比 #meilisearch 方便，因為如果要對舊貼文增加搜尋索引，需要自己手動進行。而且meilisearch對於中日韓文字的支援不算好，比不上PGroonga 。
