¿Sabían que Metrópolis (1927), la obra maestra de Fritz Lang, fue la película más cara de producir en su tiempo y casi arruina a los estudios UFA? 🏙️🤖

Considerada una de las películas más influyentes de la historia y pionera de la ciencia ficción moderna, su producción fue monumental:

Costos: Superó con creces el presupuesto inicial.

Extras: Se utilizaron miles de extras para las escenas de las masas obreras y la ciudad futurista.

La película fue editada brutalmente después de su estreno debido a su larga duración y fracaso inicial en taquilla. Durante décadas, se consideraron perdidas muchas escenas clave.

No fue si no hasta 2008 que se encontró una copia casi completa en un archivo en Buenos Aires, Argentina, lo que permitió restaurar la versión que podemos ver hoy.

Metropolis at The Hollywood Theatre

I attended the sold out showing of Metropolis at the Hollywood Theatre last night. Was a great showing - a sold out crowd - with Dean Lemire at the organ. Overall the organ sounded great despite some tuning slipping on a couple notes (it happens). The crowd seemed to really enjoy it. This was our last film for the year. I'm having a big issue with the way the #metropolis #font is being displayed in the #Vivaldi browser on #ubuntu.

Chrome and Firefox are ok. Only Vivaldi is affected.

A few other folks seem to have had this over the years, but system-wide, never browser-specific.

Any thoughts?

"Khong" was/is an Architectural concrete light sculpture. This sculpture contained of a box of which rectangular and angular shapes were pushed out, pulled in and cut out. It ever has been shipped of to San Diego when posting to the US of A was still easy.
