I watched The Keepers over the last two days, a documentary about the murder of the nun Cathy Cesnick in the 70s. It's still unsolved but there are a lot of suspects.
Underpinning the murder was the sexual abuse and exploitation of at least 30 and maybe up to 100 or more high school girls at the hands of the priest Maskell. Police and politicians were involved. Local businessmen, too. A slew of pedophiles hiding in normal lives in plain sight. In the last episode it's revealed that Maskell had also sexually abused an altar boy in 1967. That boy's mother went to the archdiocese in a rage and the priest was just moved to a new placement, which was the all-girl high school. The church denied it had ever happened and refused to allow documentarians access to Maskell's file. He died at age 62, sounded like Alzheimer's though they never said exactly what. I hope the fuck suffered.
The story exposes the Catholic church's cover ups and refusal to protect the children from this pedo priest who was just shuffled to new placements when the heat turned up.
It left me enraged (as usual) and of course I'm more firmly against religion than I was before. People should not be put in positions of authority over anyone. Whether the church attracts pedophiles because of the cover it gives, or the frequency of pedophilia is much more prevalent than people know is irrelevant. Of course, my take on it is that patriarchy corrupts men and insulates them from consequences of foul action and it is much, much more common than people know or understand. Give a perv an inch and he'll take all the miles.
As one of my favorite anti-patriarchy YouTubers says, it's not all men but it's always a man.
You put a man in a position of authority and he's more likely than not to get up to evil. This is why I'm an anarchist and believe people need to learn to govern themselves and not give their power away to people to use against them, especially men.

Misogyny and "misandry" are not equally bad.
Misogyny is upheld by thousands of years of oppressing women and children via the patriarchy, and is entrenched deeply and invisibly in our daily lives, informing every facet of our existence. Women are killed by their intimate partners in the tens of thousands. Objectified, stalked, harassed, and more, regularly. It happens to every woman from childhood.
"Misandry" isn't even a real thing but if it were, it comes from a place of being fed the fuck up with being treated to patriarchal behavior. it comes from a place of reaction to things done to a person by men.
One is ingrained in the system and is based on hatred for a person's existence. The other is a learned reaction to being hated for no reason other than being deemed female or feminine.
There's no "it goes both ways." Until patriarchy is dead and gone and men as a class pull their heads out of their collective asses, I will be a proud misandrist.

I am displeased about the tech-connected oligarchy that appears to be emerging in the USA. I am also displeased about this article which demonstrates a hatred of men and male things.
The essay is written from the perspective of female privilege. The opinion piece also contains the word "cringe" so many times as to make the whole thing cringeworthy.
What a combination: misandry plus overuse of the incredibly overused slang word "cringe."
The article might be effective if it didn't contain so much anti-male sentiment and language, and such excessive use of the word "cringe."
Can you imagine the knee jerk uproar if anyone dared to post such drivel about women?
An editor at The Guardian should have sent that document back to the writer for a serious rewrite before publishing it.
