Movetodon is down, for example.
Was hoping to claw back some of the timeline from that at least, as I haven't deleted everything from the old account there.

Le.viens de découvrir que cet outil ( https://www.sky-follower-bridge.dev/fr/ ) existe pour Bluesky. Ne serait il pas possible d'en recréer pour Mastodon? Enfin, si ça existe, je suis preneur. 😉

Just used #twitodon (https://twitodon.com/) and #Movetodon (https://www.movetodon.org/) to find some of the people I follow on Twitter. They work in different ways, so I recommend both.
Are there any functioning tools out there that are paying for #TwitterAPI access so that they can continue to offer great tools like #fedifinder #movetodon #Twitodon #debirdify etc used to be able to offer? i.e. helping to find your #Twitter #X contacts on #Mastodon?
Je me suis dit que ça valait le coup de refaire un coup de Movetodon pour retrouver des camarades qui auraient migré depuis.
Mais j'ai découvert que l'outil était mort à cause des modifications tarifaires de l'API.

Ich weiß ja nicht, wie es euch geht, aber ich kann bei all der Tragik rund um #twitter einen gewissen Unterhaltungswert der #news nicht leugnen. Jetzt trendet die falsche #threadsapp weil Menschen einfach wie Lemminge doof im #AppStore auf eine App klicken, die den selben Namen trägt wie #metas neues "Gefängnis". #Mastodon ist zumindest unique.

@amv_ac ce qui est pénible c'est qu'il a aussi tué les outils qui permettaient de retrouver des gens comme #Movetodon. Du coup faut y aller à la main et/ou demander…

As we're in the midst of another migration wave and this times sites reliant on the #twitter #API like #movetodon and #debirdify no longer work, remember it's massively more important than ever to boost posts and hashtag everything, stumbling across people you followed on the bird site is going to be harder than ever for new arrivals.
@nomatic @FediFinder I don't see how that violates GDPR. I can maybe see an anti-trust angle, but I don't really know anything about law.
Personally I'd be surprised if there were a law that mandates free (or cheap) API access for third parties.
Banning #Movetodon and #Debirdify without explanation and without responding to inquiries was an unfair move from Twitter for sure (although probably not illegal), but since Twitter has been announcing that they would shut down all API access for everyone anyway I think it would be hard to pursue that angle anyway.
Very pissed that Elno killed #movetodon. >:(

It's just that they suspended #Movetodon and #Debirdify (without giving a reason) but not #Fedifinder (not yet at least).

At the moment, #Movetodon is not working properly. Movetodon needs to use the API of Twitter and Twitter has blocked our access to the API, mentioning it would “violate Twitter Rules and policies.”
Here on the #Fediverse we don't have algorithms, but there are tools that can perform functions that are similar.
For example suggesting people to follow. This is a website that looks at who your friends follow to show you people you might be interested in.
