From these sites, Musqueam peoples have protected and stewarded this place since time immemorial. Generations have lived and died here, our ancestors are still buried here.

This place is a fortified lookout and an encampment, from which we coordinated defense of our territory. This place is part of our oral histories, histories which speak to many other names around ʔəlqsən (Point Grey) describing the creation of aspects of the territory and encoding our teachings.

We are glad you are here to enjoy this beautiful part of our territory. We ask that you enter this place with a good heart and an open mind and that your behaviour is appropriately respectful and mindful.

Please take a minute to ensure you are in the right mindset to do the work of protecting this place alongside Musqueam so that we can together ensure it can be enjoyed for many generations to come.

#UBC designed a #NewFont that allows characters from #Musqueam #Indigenous #language to be typed on computers & match formal institutional #font used on UBC documents/signs.
Most characters in Musqueam language's - #hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ - pronounced HUN-kuh-mee-num - aren't available on English language keyboard.

The new font is also capable of #typesetting the language of the #Syilx, a #FirstNation located in the same area as UBC's #Okanagan campus
