Variations in the magnetic field at Jupiter’s so-called "Great Blue Spot" - a region of intense magnetic field along its equator first spotted in observations from NASA’s Juno spacecraft - are reported in a new study just published in Nature. This analysis may provide insights into the gas giant’s interior.

: New Image of Io!

This amazing new image is Jupiter's moon Io as taken by the JunoCam onboard NASA's Juno spacecraft on February 3, 2024! The night side can be seen due to reflected light from Jupiter.

Southern view of Jupiter taken by the Juno spacecraft as it departed from Perijove 48. The camera, which is already well beyond it's expected lifetime, experienced some sort of temperature anomaly which resulted in most of the images not having been taken on PJ48. Hopefully the camera engineers find a solution before the closer Io passes!

A low perspective over Jupiter's North Polar Storms. I used imagery from the Juno spacecraft's recent Perijove 47 to render a simulated view as if you were only a few thousand kilometers above the clouds. I applied simulated altimetry, shadowing, and upper atmospheric transparency depth in Blender and Photoshop to render this.

Lightning! Back on Perijove 31, the Juno spacecraft was able to catch a probable flash of lightning up in one of the north polar cyclones. The flash appears green as it was predominately caught by the green-filtered pixels of JunoCam.
