In this article, we look at the abilities of the LLMs to review data charts in image form from Nightscout and see what they suggest in terms of changing treatments, and how the contextualise those changes.

@jjesse They had announced it. The Mac app died on Feb. 1st actually. They recommended using the webpage instead of (which is not very practical).
The iOS app is still supported. There are numerous apps out there that do the same thing (I use on iOS and on macOS, but I'm sure that there are other similar tools on other platforms. is an option of course, but it requires more work…

Every attempt to prime my faulty infusion set got logged to Tandem source, which ended up synced to my Nightscout instance.

It looks like there’s a bug in tconnectsync with logging extended bolus to nightscout. It seems to only get the initial bolus and doesn’t log the additional boluses that occur during the extended period.

It also appears there’s already a github issue open…from 2021.

Probably won’t be using this a lot anyway. But worth keeping in mind.

First full day of data with the new pump. This is from the “Day to day" report in Nightscout. I'm using Shuggah connected to the G7 to upload glucose data, and tconnectsync to get data from Tandem Source and put into Nightscout.

Pretty interesting to see the change in basal:bolus ratio from MDI. Granted, I did have more carbs than usual. On MDI, my split was much closer to 50:50.

Screenshot of a “Day to day” chart from Nightscout. The date of the chart is Saturday, November 23, 2024. The graph shows blood glucose values, insulin usage, and carb consumption. The X axis shows time and the Y axis shows blood glucose values for the dots in the graph. The bottom of the graph shows basal insulin rate, with periodic reductions in basal rate. Various parts of the graph show insulin dose markers in blue, with the amount dose indicated on the marker, and a slow showing insulin activity. Along with these markers are carb markers in red, showing the amount of carbs and the slope of activity. To the right of the graph is some statistics with numbers for the day, including bolus insulin used, base basal insulin rate, positive and negative temp basal amounts, total insulin, and carbs. Below this shows charts indicating basal and bolus ratio, and carbs. Below all of this, at the bottom, shows some averages for the time scale, in this case, 1 day, that includes total daily dose average, bolus average, basal average, and carbs average.

It’s gonna take a few days for this thing to figure me out. But it just did its first automated correction bolus. Now I hear what people were talking about with the audible clicking when it does a bolus.

I have everything wired into Nightscout now, as well. I might have to shuffle some things around though.

I made an E-Ink Display showing my latest #nightscout blood glucose value using #esphome maybe useful for some #t1d humans :)

Running 2 different CGMs and sending the data from both to my Nightscout is confusing my watch. They don’t exactly match (but are very close) but my watch has trouble figuring out the delta.

Interesting observation running both a Dexcom Stelo and Libre 3 Plus through Nightscout: The random spikes and return to normal from Libre 3 are purely a Libre 3 thing and not something weird with my body. The Stelo never registers the spikes.

I might have to rethink my use of Shuggah. I’ve run into a bug and there’s no way to get the dev to do something about it.

(there’s a bit of a complex situation with the dev and the origin project, xdrip4ios)

Ran into an issue trying to move my Nightscout services and kinda gave up on it last night. I think there’s a bug in the docker container where it doesn’t handle having multiple networks defined very well. I suspect it was only starting its service listening on one of the defined networks, and not the network I want it to.

Going to do some digging today.

Increased my I:C ratio for lunch today, anticipating my insulin needs will change with Mounjaro in my system again.

Was a good call.

Went from 1:8 to 1:10 and holding steady from my lunch today. Will have to keep an eye on this to see if it needs further change.

I log everything into Nightscout so it'll be interesting to see how my reports look in a couple of weeks compared to previous couple of weeks.

uh oh, for monitoring blood glucose and pump activity is amazing... until it stops working and it has been literally like 9 months since I set it up?

Reinstalled Shuggah. Again. Thankfully all my data is in Nightscout so no real data loss.

Set Shuggah to just use aggressive keepalive rather than bluetooth to see if this fixes it. Not sure if it’s a data issue or something with the sensor. But with the bluetooth page reliably crashing the app…leaning towards that.

There's an update to Shuggah (Diabetes app for iOS). It has an interesting change.

I've had to keep the app keepalive set to aggressive to be reliable. This has a noticeable impact on battery. It also wasn't 100% reliable.

It now has a heartbeat you can set to your sensor's bluetooth connection. The heartbeat wakes up the app for background updates. This is supposed to reduce the battery impact by Shuggah to almost none. This is also supposed to be way more reliable.

Libre 3 is supported. It doesn't actually get data from the sensor. It just uses it to wake up the app and retrieve data from librelinkup and then send to Nightscout.

I'm going to run with this for a bit and see how it goes.
