I know there's a lot of serious stuff going on in the world but I just found out about multiple desktops on Windows and I'm so happy! It's given me at least a +3 bonus to my organisation skills.
I now have separate desktops for my personal and scouting IT personas and it's liberating. Each desktop has its own apps, webpages and multiple display config and switches with Ctrl-Win-right and left.
Brilliant!
Once at my old job I needed to replace a bad PC Power supply quickly and used one from another desktop that had been laying around.
But the holes didn't line up so I had to use my computer expertise to do a pretty janky hack work around.
Windows 7 does this fun thing where even when you set sleep to 'Never' in Power Options, it STILL goes to sleep. 🤬
So today I installed this tiny, free little piece of software called "Awake" from download.com and it works GREAT. Apparently it works for at least Windows 7 to 10, and possibly even Vista.
