This week at Cubs they played Human Battleships.
The boardgame Battleships at person-sized scale.

Apparently one of the big new things in music are a band called Arkayla.
As some of you will know many people pronounce Akela, the traditional name for Cub Scout Leaders (named after the leader of the Wolf Pack in The Jungle Book), this way.
Being a Leader myself obviously hearing the name mentioned on the radio this afternoon led to my ears pricking up, curious to the context of it being used.

Trying to do something to lift the mood today, I have been reading and watching about intaglio printing on tetrapak for a wee while, so as it is sunny I will give it a go. Lots of lessons learned.
1. Remember that images transpose when drawing them. I managed with the writing, but forgot about the WSJ26 Logo.
2. If there is a sharp bit on your scrim, it will mark the tetrapak (and give additional lines as a result).

As an Eagle Scout who attended a National Jamboree, visited Philmont multiple times, & enjoyed summer camp over many years, I have always been concerned about the military's undue influence on Scouting. This is (ironically to Pete Hegseth) the best news I have heard in awhile!

One of the weirder moves by #Hegesth.
Personally (as both a #peace activist and a scouting alum), I think #Scouting may be better off without the military support in the long-term, but the rationale given for this is just bizarre.
The part of this that does concern me is that this policy would also bar Scout troops from meeting on military bases, a real problem for young people living on overseas military bases with a military parent. It seems unjust to deprive these kids of the opportunities of Scouting, just because because of Hegseth's gender paranoia and insecurities.

1) #PeteHegseth claiming that #ScoutingAmerica is no longer a meritocracy because girls are now welcome makes it crystal clear that Hegseth thinks women are inferior to men by definition.
2) If Scouting of all things isn't safe from the Trump administration's malice than literally no one is safe. No one.
3) Scouting is shitty so this is well into leopards eating people's faces territory.
