In the uk there are overreaching and broadly unenforced anti free speech laws and anti protest laws that only ever seem to get used against protestors

In the Police Crime Sentencing and Courts Act Section 78 you can get up to 10 years in prison for causing a "serious annoyance" (2c) "to the public or a section of the public" (1bi)

Theres also a law about having about 5 or more people playing music too loud in public without a permit the so called anti rave law put on the books in the 90s

Приветствую всех! Думаю, многим из вас доводилось слышать такое утверждение, что SIM-карта — по сути полноценный специализированный компьютер. А раз симка — это компьютер, то, очевидно, должен быть и софт для него. Как насчёт попробовать что-нибудь написать и заставить это работать прямо на карте? Давайте разбираться. Итак, в сегодняшней статье поговорим про эту довольно редко упоминающуюся сторону сотовой связи. Узнаем, как писать приложения, чтобы они запускались на всех телефонах, от Nokia 3310 до последних айфонов. Попутно выясним, как загружать их в SIM-карты и насколько сложно это сделать, и, конечно же, напишем наш первый апплет. Традиционно будет много интересного.

#macOS broke #scdaemon and support for certain #ccid devices a few iterations ago, but if you're running Sonoma or are using @GPGTools you have to make some changes to your PATH, gpg.conf, gpg-agent.conf, and scdaemon.conf files to get #GPG working with a @yubico #YubiKey. Otherwise, no matter what you do, GPG won't be able to recognize the YubiKey properly, or access the key material stored on it.

This is basically the result of macOS "forcing" the use of its native #PCSC #daemon, which conflicts with the GPG #scdaemon. In addition, if you use both #GPGTools and a version of GPG installed via #Homebrew you will need to ensure that the non-Homebrew version is first in your PATH even for #CLI stuff.

This is apparently a known issue, and has been for a while, but it's hard to find the solution if you don't know exactly what to look for. The fixes require a bit of cargo-cult configuration changes; I haven't managed to fine it down to the smallest set of necessary changes yet, and this one doesn't cover the shell updates, so feel free to post a link of you know of a better starting point than this one.

Just discovered https://github.com/WICG/web-smart-card/ for teaching #browsers #SmartCard #PCSC instead of ... running pcsc-lite in #WebAssembly / #PNaCl over #WebUSB (for #ChromeOS) or exposing the #pcscd socket (e.g., Linux). Notably the #AusweisApp2 is mentioned as one use case!

I hope this gains similar traction as #FIDO2/#WebAuthn/#U2F/#CTAP support in browsers, especially with the recent push for #Passkeys, as smart cards are very widely deployed in orgs and slimming down the stack would definitely be a win here.
